2016 Postmortem
Related: About this forumSen. Corker and Sen. Ernst Drop Out of VP Chase
It's very telling that after one interview with Donald Trump, Senator Bob Corker (R-TN) dropped out of consideration. For all of his conservatism, Corker at least isn't an idiot (unlike so many Repug Senators). https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/post-politics/wp/2016/07/06/corker-withdraws-as-potential-trump-running-mate/
Sen. Ernst (R-IA) also just removed herself from consideration. This is also significant as she is a wholly owned subsidiary of Koch Industries. This essentially means that the Kochs don't want to go anywhere near Donald Trump. http://www.politico.com/story/2016/07/joni-ernst-trump-vice-president-225169

(17,865 posts)I would be shocked at this point if it wasn't him. No other major Republican has as little to lose as him.
I would not be surprised to see Articles of Impeachment within a year of Trump winning the White House. Anyone with half a brain can see how dangerous a Trump Presidency would be.
On the flip side I am thinking that Romney still might pull it out at the convention. It would be better for the Republican party overall.

(15,805 posts)who's left? Some yappy backbencher or a denounced former politico, someone willing to sell their soul for a chance to play the part of the obsequious, over eager, Odie the dog, a puppet who does tricks for Trump on demand? Who can Trump turn to... whose left besides washed up celebrities and has been sports figures, or the always redeemable, cashiered ex-military nutter?
