Politico: Hardly anybody wants to speak at Trump's convention

A slot at the Republican National Convention used to be a career-maker — a chance to make your name on the big stage and to catch the eye of the Republican donors and activists who make or break campaigns.

In the year of Trump: Not so much.

With the convention less than a month away, POLITICO contacted more than 50 prominent governors, senators and House members to gauge their interest in speaking. Only a few said they were open to it, and everyone else said they weren’t planning on it, didn’t want to or weren’t going to Cleveland at all — or simply didn’t respond.

This seems strange to me. Even if the presumptive nominee is not favored to win, up and coming politicians don't usually shy away for fear of being linked with a loser. Obama became an overnight star after the 2004 convention despite the fact that Kerry lost. But I guess Trump is so polarizing that Republicans are afraid that speaking at his convention will link them to his racist views (which some of them probably secretly agree with).

It's hard to envision anyone speaking for him and coming off as authentic, other than the fringe officeholders.

The reason the Republican politicians are so angry at Trump is that he ruined it for the rest of the party. The Republican base will no longer settle for just dog whistles now that Trump is throwing actual red-meat racism to them.

I am sure they could get:

1. Victoria Jackson
2. The non-talented Baldwin Brother
3. Adam Sandler
4. Mel Gibson
5. Jon Lovitz
6. David Spade
7. Rob Schneider
8. Dennis Miller
9. Scott Baio
10. Jon Voight
11. Tila Tequila
12. Ted Nugent
13. Gary Busey
14. Kid Rock
15. To be named, no talent, annoying, has been.

Seriously, I mean FUCKING A SERIOUSLY, what a list of horrible "actors/comedians/musicians". From that list there are at least a dozen cringe worthy "talents." People when they came on screen or on radio immediately caused me to be annoyed. And this was before knowing their political leanings. Ted Nugent, annoying, Sandler, Lovitz, Schneider, Spade, annoying, Kid Rock, want to punch his smug entitled arrogant face annoying.
