2016 Postmortem
Related: About this forumSo, where do you draw the line?
What line? The one where you can do something while under FBI scrutiny.
Buy groceries, but not a gun. Sounds reasonable to me. Drive a car? Ok.
Run for Mayor? The Senate? President?
Where do you draw the line?

(16,380 posts)An "I love Obama" or "How DARE you say something other then positive about our President. You're a hater." inserted frequently in seems to afford posters immunity in spite of really bad behavior.

(26,449 posts)Maybe a highly trained and skilled lawyer would not suggest curtailing rights because of an accusation, would they?

(26,449 posts)Are you implying that Hillary ignored that foundational principle of U.S. law?
I'm paraphrasing, but didn't she say that no one under FBI scrutiny should be able to buy such a weapon as was used in Orlando?

ZombieHorde
(29,047 posts)but I still favor innocent until proven guilty. The restriction could potentially save lives, so I very much respect the opposing view.

(9,070 posts)When someone goes to Saudia Arabia twice, has an ex-wife say he's crazy and abusive, has a coworker say he's threatening, goes to the mosque with a known suicide bomber, and buys assault weapons AFTER HE'S ON THE FBI LIST AND HAS BEEN INTERVIEWED TWICE - then they need to spend their time more wisely!
Or else they are incompetent.
My line - quit wasting time and money on RW, GOP witch hunts and get your real job done!!
Almost time that these flame bait OPs go away!!
Fumesucker
(45,851 posts)Now you tell us that the FBI is incompetent.
Government incompetence is the Republican meme, not the Democratic one.

(9,070 posts)"set up her private server because the SD IT dept is incompetent"
My pet schnauzer could have done a better investigation of the Orlando shooter.
If they are competent, then their resources are mishandled. You can't have it both ways.
Fumesucker
(45,851 posts)I thought the meme was still that the SD email was so bad that Hillary was forced to set up her own server to get her job done.
Sorry, it's hard to keep up.

(9,070 posts)In November 2012, without explanation, Clinton's private email account was reconfigured to use Google's servers as a backup in case her own personal email server failed, according to Internet records. That is significant because Clinton publicly supported Google's accusations in June 2011 that China's government had tried to break into the Google mail accounts of senior U.S. government officials. It was one of the first instances of a major American corporation openly accusing a foreign government of hacking.
Then, in July 2013, five months after she resigned as secretary of state, Clinton's private email server was reconfigured again to use a Denver-based commercial email provider, MX Logic, which is now owned by McAfee Inc., a top Internet security company.

The White House possesses no archived e-mail messages for many of its component offices, including the Executive Office of the President and the Office of the Vice President, for hundreds of days between 2003 and 2005, according to the summary of an internal White House study that was disclosed yesterday by a congressional Democrat.
The 2005 study whose credibility the White House attacked this week identified 473 separate days in which no electronic messages were stored for one or more White House offices, said House Oversight and Government Reform Committee Chairman Henry A. Waxman (D-Calif.).
