I live in Mississippi and I am so fed up with pre-primary robo-calls I could hurl....

For four days now they've been rolling in, one after another. Most hang up after triggering our answering machine but I have had the opportunity to personally hang up on Willard Mittington Romney's call twice and the Newster once. Sadly the Santorum calls never hang in long enough to leave a message. Guess he prefers to pull out before climaxing-a poor strategy for both campaigns and birth control.

On the plus side, I get to vote tomorrow for a good Democratic congressman in the primary, Bennie Thompson, minority head of the Intelligence Committee. Also, I get a chance to vote for a good friend and neighbor who's running for a position on our city board of alderman (the incumbent died last winter). My friend the candidate is a social liberal/economic conservative (the best you can hope for in Mississippi) who could help restore sanity on a city council that in sad shape. One of his main opponents is the current mayor's wife. Gonna be an interesting night here in Mississippi for sure.

I keep hoping it's mostly over by then, but the Democratic primaries are shaping up to be pretty obnoxious with "socially conservative Democrats" coming out of the woodwork for a couple of the offices.

are all unfunded and unknown so I'm just voting blindly for the one who seems sanest. He doesn't stand a chance in this hell-hole.

early voting next time. The Rethugs took over state government last November and are busy trying to keep minorities from voting so I doubt I'll have the chance to vote early in 2016.
