Political science professor calls on Gingrich to step down and back Santorum

In December, radio host Michael Savage offered Newt Gingrich a million dollars to drop out of the 2012 primaries. Now, Stephen M. Kranson, a political science professor at Franciscan University (Steubenville, Oh.) published an article on CNN.com calling on Gingrich to step down due to poor polling performance: "Gingrich and Santorum have been competing for many of the same voters. Had Gingrich not been in the race, Santorum would probably have won more contests, including the biggest prize of Ohio, as well as the Michigan primary. It seems fairly certain that without Gingrich, Santorum would now be the clear front-runner and some people would be calling for Romney to depart the race."
