Santorum press secretary: since he is 'strong pro-life', he can make up stuff

Rick Santorum caused a minor international incident a few weeks ago, arguing that in the Netherlands, government officials routinely euthanize the elderly "involuntarily" when seniors "are older and sick." As a result, the Republican presidential hopeful argued, elderly Dutch people simply "don't go to the hospital," because they're terrified of being murdered by the state.

Erik Mouthaan, the U.S. correspondent for the Dutch RTL Evening News, appeared on the show soon after, explaining that Santorum has no idea what he's talking about. But to update the story, Andrew Kaczynski reports that Mouthaan connected with Santorum press secretary Alice Stewart, asking to explain why the former senator made a series of claims that simply aren't true. Regrettably, Stewart didn't offer much of a defense.

He asks her 3 times; each time, she just repeats "he is strong pro-life". So he says "OK, I'm not going to get an answer" about the untrue claims by Santorum, and she then claims "I gave you an answer". "It's a matter of what's in his heart" means he can lie, as far as she's concerned.

is that the people who will vote for him do not even care that he is a liar. And that has nothing to do with their eagerness to vote for him. The only thing that matters is that he affirms their their fears their prejudices and their malignant anger.

To lie, one has to know the truth. Too many Conservatives cannot tell reality from what they wish it to be. Reality for them can be anything that gets them what they want.
They actually do have mental impairment. This is not in anyway hallucination. This is simply the way they perceive the world around themselves.

Beause she was confronted with the truth right there. Little Ricky knows the truth but doesn't care. That makes him a liar too -- reckless disregard for the truth.

Thugs. They're ALL liars.

Anything outside their extremely narrow world view is nonsense to them. They literally don't know how to deal with facts and shut down intellectually.

Not that there is much intellect beyond what's drilled into their brains at endless "prayer meetings".

It's so sad.

Some take it all the way back to the JFK - Nixon debates.

They "teach" it these days to politicians, and you can clearly hear them do it in interviews. They call it "pivoting" these days.

How to know when someone is "pivoting" as soon as they begin speaking:

They start the sentence with "Look".
They open their comment with "I think what the people really want to know is..."
A sentence starts with, "When I'm out speaking with my constituents...."
They end a comment with "But I'd like to get back to...."

She's doing the least "artful" kind in which they just start talking about something else.

"Why did the senator advocate for dead kitten muffins?"

"The senator has a long history of advocating for carrrot cake and he is out today in Rochester doing just that, speaking to the people about the nutritional value of carrots."

No Rick, they don't kill people without permission. Where is this crap about armbands and old folks afraid of hospitals?
Anyway, for the curious, some background knowledge. It's pretty decently referenced for a Wikipedia article.

Basically you have to be a no-win scenario for doctors to consider a patient request for euthanasia. That means none of Rick's "They kill old people" bullshit. Let's see him go thru 6 years of bladder cancer and see how hot he feels.

The natural death thing means "you die when God tells you to die". Why should an atheist have to stick it out to wait for a God that doesn't exist? Rick the dick thinks he's being slick.
