Option 1: The Clinton campaign, the DNC and the "corporate media" conspired to announce Superdelegates support in an attempt to quash turnout tomorrow, INCLUDING States Clinton is expected to win easily, with the goal of winning the nomination an entire 24 hours earlier
Option 2: The AP, able to see the likelihood that Clinton would win the nomination tomorrow, decided to do some old-fashioned journalistic research and get a jump on the competition.

(9,086 posts)Please tell me you don't think 20+ superdelegates all randomly and independently decided to call the AP the night before the California primary to announce their choice, and they did it without talking to the campaign.

(9,086 posts)A Bernie victory in California would make the grassroots progressive left feel very empowered.
It would also be a personal embarrassment for Hillary Clinton.

(124 posts)They just got beat. I wouldn't be surprised if the NYT, ABC and CBS were working on being first too. The construct that this was some dark arts trick is ludicrous and reeks of sour grapes.

(62,276 posts)"Hello, X SDs office, how may I help you?"
"Hi, I'm from the AP, does X SD still support the candidate or making a change to support a candidate."
"Answering in the affirmative or providing new info."
"Our records show X SDs position has changed since last time we asked, can you confirm this please."
"We can confirm."

Everything else in option 2 is fluff. It wasn't "old-fashioned journalistic research." They just wanted a scoop, they wanted some sensationalism, they wanted people talking about AP. And they are.
It's not a matter of choosing between crazed conspiracy theories and an act of journalistic integrity.
This was a crap move, and there are more than a few "H->" posters saying the same thing tonight.

(18,115 posts)Option 3: Hillary wanted to deflect from or prevent clinching with a loss in California.
Option 4: Hillary was concerned that trump would get more positive media from his CA results than she of poor results.
Option 5: Hillary wants Bernie to drop out and this will lead to a chorus tomorrow.
There are many many more options.
