wow this is what AP used to tell us hillary clinched? a SURVEY? why hold elections anymore. just at the beginning tell us who the insiders are for, and we can avoid the trouble of voting.

If they called up a bunch of them, and found a few dozen saying they were voting for Hillary (who had not previously publicly declared so), then adding those to the ones who had already declared, they would hit the number.

...Hillary was asking to "hold off".

Clinton provided the names, the AP contacted them and, voila! No need for CA to hand Clinton an embarrassing loss tomorrow.
