Didn't the media do something similar in 2008?

I vaguely remember them claiming before the last primaries that Obama had reached the magic number based on rumors of endorsements from supers who had not actually publicly announced yet. And as an Obama supporter, I think I remember being kind of pissed about it. Am I remembering right?

It was during the night of the South Dakota and Montana primaries. It was before Montana was done voting, which was the last state.
