Wonder why they're asking this question? Maybe they suspect that there will be a new record?
Wouldn't THAT be a piece of news???

(42,759 posts)Fox News launched in 1996. In four elections since then, the Democrats have won two (with 379 and 365 EVs) and the repubs have won two (with 271 and 286 EVs). Before Fox News, going back to 1912, Democrats have topped 400 EVs six times -- four times by FDR, once by LBJ and once by Wilson. The repubs topped 400 EVs eight times - Bush I, Reagan (twice), Nixon, Eisenhower (twice), Hoover and Harding (once each).
Hard to see how Fox News has impacted these results. The main reason that Democrats have had a hard time getting to 400 EVs since 1964 is that the south moved from the Democratic column to the repub column with the enactment of Civil Rights legislation and the Nixon "Southern Strategy".
