Related: About this forumThe difference between a "party" and a "Party"
Here's a photo of a big party:
Here's a photo of a Minnesota Democratic Party convention.
One's fun, and one is serious political business. Anyone can throw a "party." It's a different thing to be a "Party."

(146,338 posts)I've been to both things. I prefer the Party convention, frankly. At the other kind of party, you might have a little too much to drink and maybe kiss someone you might not have if you were sober. At the Party convention, though, you get to help choose people who will be legislators and leaders.
One will probably give you a hangover and maybe herpes. The other will give you a progressive state or federal legislator or even a President. It's an easy choice for me.

(146,338 posts)They're usually quite sedate, and you're often seated next to people with whom you don't really agree. I've been to plenty of those, too. I recognize Hillary there, but not the fellow next to her. Should I know who he is or where this particular dinner event took place?

What was the event? You posted the photo, so I'll have to rely on you to give me the background on it. You must have a point, but I have no idea what it might be.

(146,338 posts)I'm simply point out the difference between the two meanings of the word "party." I leave the conclusions for others to draw. What conclusion did you draw? I'm sure Bernie is a serious man, as are his supporters. The post was not about Bernie Sanders. It's about the serious nature of politics, especially in a primary race.
Most people take Party politics seriously, and approach them soberly and with careful consideration. The other type of party is a different sort of thing.

I know there are a few different kinds of alcohol so I should empathize NOT drinking Rubbing alcohol.
So where are we at..
The party below would be better with Ethyl Alcohol and Pot (Not a cooking Pot).

(146,338 posts)I don't make them if I've been drinking or smoking dope. Important decisions need all of my wits about me. After the decision-making is done, then a spliff or a double scotch is certainly a worthwhile reward for that serious business, I suppose.
