2016 Postmortem
Related: About this forumVoters in Youngstown "bring their souls to the polls".
This is John Kasich and Mitt Romney's worst nightmare. The attempt to stifle early voting in Ohio has brought even more out to vote today as dozens of mostly African Americans "brought their souls to the polls" after church today.
It was on my local news today, but unfortunately the video isn't available yet. Instead there's this article:
Dozens of people were patiently waiting outside of the Mahoning County Board of Elections in Youngstown, ready to do vote early in this election.
"I tell you what, to look at this early voting I'm like wow, this is great," said NFL Hall of Famer Franco Harris. "So, I'm hoping that more states would get it, I mean I'm thinking why doesn't Pennsylvania have it?"
<snip>
"It's almost like the 60's you know, coming together and just being able to pray," said Pastor Dwayne Heard of the Elizabeth Missionary Baptist Church on the East Side of Youngstown. "The power of our communities are our churches, there is power in the church, more than just Sunday morning power!"
Even if they'd already cast their ballots, some people came just to sing and pray, bringing their souls to the polls.
"This country should want every person to participate and so that's what we're about," Reverend Simon added. "It's not about who you vote for, it's about having the right that people fought for, suffered for, bled and died for, to vote."

Happy to hear his name. He went to my high school along with quite a few other Harris kids, many of whom were also on the team.
