My son's most recent facebook status about his flight delay

"Sitting on the tarmac at CVG because Air Force One's landing. Way to pull rank Obama".

He said there were cheers on the plane as the pilot announced that AF1 had just landed.

And my daughter is sitting at the Fifth Third Center waiting for him to show up.

5 kids - 5 solid democrats...we must be doing something right.

Yeah - we done good.

I don't get a lot of places to be the proud parent but this is a point I always gloat over. And we couldn't have done it alone...my parents have lived with us for the past 7 years.

There's a lot to be said for grandpa (now 89) holding court over the weekend dinner table explaining why voting is important or why unions were (and still are) necessary. There's a lot to be said for grandma (now 87) explaining why republican's view of women is downright uncivilized.

Dad's a WWII vet from New Jersey (via Scotland) who had 3 ships shot out from under him in the North Atlantic. Somehow he finally ended up in Chicago where he landed a job as Adlai Stevenson's driver during the 1956 Democratic Convention and shared smokes with Eleanor Roosevelt when she stepped out of the hall to get away from those horrid speaches. Mom's a quite forceful woman of her own right, a former Chicago teacher who was chosen to teach the first sex ed classes back in the late 60's. It was televised on Chicago Public Television (so now you know how we got our first color TV).

They're Chicago Democrats since forever and they're both tough ole coots. Having that extra generation of experience has really helped our kids keep the world and their role in perspective. So, while I appreciate the kudos on 5 out of 5 democrats - never forget "it takes a village".

hundreds, maybe thousands of airport codes. I've always wondered why the Cincinnati airport was CVG. Now I know. Thanks.

Welcome to DU...I envy your daughter! Obama has been in NH twice in the last month....and of course I had to work!
That's about as close as we get to him in the Blue State of MA!
