2016 Postmortem
Related: About this forumHow is this going to be an Obama landslide?
I have little experience with this, other than watching all these polls and DU posts every day but, looking at this-
http://www.electoral-vote.com/evp2012/Pres/EVP_average.html
how is this going to be an Obama landslide, or even a sure thing?
It looks to me like if he does NOT win Ohio... whooee... too close...

+2 gives you 347-191
Many believe the Latino vote will easy give a +2 over what current polls have

(24,324 posts)Me.. a troll? You must be kidding. Look at any of my other posts. I was seriously asking a question. I am very confident in a win but.. don't want to jinx the thing, that's all... if you get my drift.
In 2008 I gave $500 to Obama.. much more than I could afford. I also held several phone parties calling people to vote for Obama. Put out signs.I live near Rochester, NY but I went to Cleveland to help register people. . And I VOTED!
And on Nov 4th, 2008 exactly 4 YEARS AGO TODAY, and one day before my birthday, he WON!!! I was in Austin at a convention and in the early evening went out for dinner and just HAPPENED by chance to go walk in on the Texas Democratic Party election night party. Several thousand ginned up, happy screaming people. I mean what are the odds? I was in fucking Texas ! I was there when they called it for Obama. ! WOW!
A few years ago I also took my then new Chinese wife to meet Hillary Clinton, Eric Spitzer and Howard Dean in Rochester, NY. Try to show her something about American 'democracy" and meet some good people. Dr. Dean very graciously talked with her for several minutes when he certainly didn't have to.
I also worked hard locally to help elect Eric Massa to congress in our strongly republican district. (Of course even though he won, that didn't turn out so well in the end.)
This year I haven't been able to do so much as I had back surgery on July 5 at which time I was diagnosed with diffuse large B- cell lymphoma. Great ! Since then it's been 4 chemos ( R-CHOP, to be exact) 4 lumbar punctures, 1 MRI, 2 PET/CT scans, endless blood draws and a partridge in a pear tree. I couldn't make that up. Two weeks ago, the cancer was gone. We shall see, won't we.
I am not complaining one tiny bit. Many, many people are far far worse than I am and other than that one little issue I am healthy as a horse. So no sympathy, please.
So, with a little bit of good fortune, this year Obama will win again one day AFTER my birthday.
Sorry to waste your time with my original post.

(13,776 posts)So in a way, did the surgery end up saving your life?
I think your good news of two weeks ago will be followed by good news on Tuesday.
Congratulations on your recovery!

(24,324 posts)I almost wish I hadn't put that in there. Just got pissed at being called a troll. :> )
Did the surgery save me-- well I guess that, the quick diagnosis and the chemo etc.. yes because that type of lymphoma, while in my case pretty treatable, if NOT treated moves very fast..
I will say, if stuff like that happens, do NOT go on line to find out info.
Tuesday will be a great day> :> )

(658 posts)This section of DU (Politics 2012) is a place where you simply cannot have any discussion that doesn't involve absolute victory. Anyone who dares to sway from either hand-wringing while claiming absolute loyalty to the President or from claiming that he'll crush Romney like an empty beer can is called a troll. It's something that I personally think dumbs down this whole forum.'
I got what you were asking in your OP and I agree. I think Obama must win Ohio as well. And personally I'd love it if he swept all the other swing states, but I'm realistic. He is going to win, but he's going to do it with Ohio under his belt. Without it, it will be very close indeed.
And I'm certainly no troll as I too have donated a lot of my hard earned cash this year to the Obama campaign and made phone calls yesterday from the OFA here in CA. I fully support our POTUS and want him to win, but I won't celebrate or go calling victory until Romney gives his concession speech and then slithers back into his multimillion dollar pit.

ELECTION SPOILER: Obama wins in a LANDSLIDE
By the way, Ohio's a lock for Obama. No need to worry about that.
No need to worry about anything.
Obama has his 2nd term. GUARANTEED.
