MUST SEE: (skip to 9:15) @hardball_chris sets a trap for Jeff Weaver on Sanders' tax returns, & Weaver gets caught! https://t.co/56uJGR92Ej
...I haven't watched Tweety in years (yes, years), but I thoroughly enjoyed this Hardball segment.

(81,859 posts)Matthews sets him up by saying they're not attacking Trump. Weaver attacks Trump on taxes.
Matthews pounces. A work of art. A thing of beauty.

(85,996 posts)...even his body language and facial expression was perfect.
Weaver didn't appear to catch on, got caught up trying to make up ground criticizing Trump and eagerly jumped at that bone Chris threw at him.
He thought his answer about the one return they released would be fine, but Matthews didn't let him duck Sanders' promise to release all of his returns, and didn't let Weaver deflect with that thing about the Senate disclosure process.
Like you said, a thing of beauty.

(15,445 posts)Matthews was at the top of his form. He set and then snapped that trap shut--Weaver was left flapping his gums like a beached fish. Delicious spectacle!

(36,221 posts)finally the purity campaign asked a tough question regarding their "purity".
CrowCityDem
(2,348 posts)would have been to frame the question slightly differently. It would have been even more damning if he had asked Weaver, "why does Senator Sanders believe voters should only see if he's telling the truth AFTER they've voted for him?"

(56,582 posts)That was seriously bush-league on Weaver's part

(110,159 posts)seeing Sanders over the last month, I so not think they are out of Sanders perimeter. Saying, I think the are like mind and running the campaign the direction Sanders wants it. That is true to him. Starts at the top, and I do not think that there would be a difference in the campaign, because this is indicative of Sanders in his leadership role and his actions.

Same thing goes for policy wonks--they all signed up with Clinton figuring that was their best chance to influence policy.

(45,487 posts)Find some young Axelrod and give him the resources/aid to put together a young hungry team. Of course, it helps if you have more real life experience than the "supposers" at Reddit. It just proves that implementation of his ideas was never really on Sanders game plan.

The extension rationale doesn't explain withholding prior years, though.
I suspect that, if he concedes before the convention we'll never see them... but if he's going to continue to contest delegates right up to the convention, we will.

(1,507 posts)The facial expressions were priceless.
Two observations:
Dream Weaver is terrified of Frank. His jaw tensed up just as Tweety was introducing him. Terrified!
Dream Weaver has been in over his head from day one but nobody noticed until recently as the focus on the GOP race in the media wound down. But it may be worse than that. It doesn't look like the elevator may not go all the way to the top, if you know what I mean.

(17,651 posts)On the hot seat for once and watch her squirm. So many excellent questions he could ask her about her, Billy and Chels - ya know Americans would appreciate some real investigative journalism about all the candidates not just the ones being propped up by cavemen like Matthews.
Yellow leg is no journalist or any sort of reporter. He's just a loudmouth empty beer can doing the master's bidding.
Noooooo, ole yellow leg only goes after Sanders showing clear favoritism to one candidate. Matthews is just a little man who is enamored with what he sees in the mirror. Tries to make himself important with bias bullying and rudeness. Instead he looks more like an angry Neanderthal.
So happy his wife lost to the better candidate.

(99,710 posts)Ole Bernie and Daffy Donald won't release multi year tax returns for the same reason Hillary won't release her private transcripts; because there is stuff in them they don't want the voters to see... I suspect if we saw the transcripts and private returns we would learn Hillary said nice things about bankers, Trump is poorer than he holds himself out to be , and Bernie is richer than he holds himself out to be. I also think we would learn more about the Burlington College windfall...
seabeyond
(110,159 posts)I think people may work hard at trying to find something, but I doubt they would. Out of principle, I would not release the transcripts. Who the hell is Sanders to make this demand. I personally do not see it as a legitimate demand and I would say no out of principle not because there si something to hide. Give him the transcripts and I betcha he would then simply make another demand to her.
Taxes are different in as it is precedent that they give out taxes. Not an out of the realm demand, but a consistency.
I really do not like equating transcripts and taxes as equal. I do not think the are.

(99,710 posts)I really am curious what is in Bernie's and Trump's tax returns.
I just believe Hillary isn't releasing her transcripts because she likely said nice things about bankers, call it ceremonial niceties...
I look at politicians as three dimensional beings, not cardboard saints. To do the latter is childish.
