2016 Postmortem
Related: About this forumMainstream media, how on earth is this race too close to call and one of the closest in years?!?!?!?
Do you guys poll each other and then come out and quote your own straw poll? Because I have no idea what planet you are on!!!!
They probably want to keep us all tuned in to make more $.

That makes it a tie.

(13,992 posts)Partisan media outlets like Fox and MSNBC, want their respective constituent groups to feel the race is tight, so people will be driven (by fear) to the polls. So I think both sides use the "too close to call" and "toss up" lines to motivate voters.

(3,544 posts)MSM don't have a clue. Has anyone ever seen this many polls before 2012? Of course not. They didn't exist. With MSM, it's all about keeping it close, and creating talking points. People listen then. If it were a landslide, no one would care. No one would listen. BTW - I do honestly believe it will be a landslide. I fully expect there will be states Obama never thought he'd take.
Reason, you ask? Answer: There can't be that many stupid, hateful, ignorant racists left in this country. They're out there, just not enough of them. Rmoney is only in this for the prestige. He cares less about you and I. He has flip flopped on so many things, no one knows what he stands for. He lies so much, I quit counting. His campaign has been a daily screw up for months. How anyone could vote for him, is totally beyond me.
So as you see, it is all about the money for MSM, and the lies, and the bullshit. I can't wait to see the results Tuesday.

(3 posts)Your statement is ignorant. Sadly, there are still people who are racist; however, your inference that all those that vote against Obama are racist is a slap in the face to great people who have fought to overcome racism.
Martin Luther King Jr. "I Have a Dream":
But there is something that I must say to my people, who stand on the warm threshold which leads into the palace of justice: In the process of gaining our rightful place, we must not be guilty of wrongful deeds. Let us not seek to satisfy our thirst for freedom by drinking from the cup of bitterness and hatred. We must forever conduct our struggle on the high plane of dignity and discipline. We must not allow our creative protest to degenerate into physical violence. Again and again, we must rise to the majestic heights of meeting physical force with soul force.

(15,373 posts)I'm in central Europe - and every single TV news program in a language that I speak/understand is talking about the neck-to-neck race. They all seem to be feeding off each other and the so-called "national" polls.
Right now, I am viewing Idiot Gregory on MTP who has just raised Benghazi. I would bet my bottom dollar that Gregory knows absolutely nothing about Benghazi and very little about Libya, for that matter, but he certainly knows how to spew RW talking points.
If it weren't for DU, KOS, Nate Silver and others like Nate, I would have had cardiac arrest long ago. Thank whatever benevolent powers in the universe that you all exist!
