(25,973 posts)In the field of punditry, 'fail' is no impediment to their continued presence in print or on the airwaves. Their usefulness lies in their ability to get the propaganda in front of as many eyes as possible - truthfulness be damned.

(43,049 posts)define "proven useless". Nobody gets it right all the time, but I prefer to see punditry as not giving us answers but pointing to the right questions.
Pretty much anyone on the three cable news networks too many here are addicted to is by definition useless, but other venues have people with decent averages.

(22,671 posts)I think Rove and Co. will back the biggest and worst fabricators with enough $$$ to keep them in business for the next decade. In fact, there will probably be more of them and they'll all be fighting to make the goofiest predictions. Rove and his backers prefer all this misinformation, they're pros at it; they've been doing it all their lives AND it pays dividends to him and the uninformed voters who eat misinformation up.
