2016 Postmortem
Related: About this forumEnergizer Bernie: How does Sanders keep going, and going, and going?
Most candidates half his age would strain under the weight of that schedule. There was one day where he hit five or six states in a single day. I really dont understand how he does it, the staffer said.
So how DOES he do it?

(115,735 posts)If there is one thing Bernie is not, it's a hater. Which is more than can be said about some of the people who misrepresent everything he's trying to do.

(115,735 posts)He's spent his whole career fighting for the rights of the poor, minorities and women. He is not motivated by hate but by the desire to improve life for the 99%. I'm glad you saw the light and deleted your post because it was hateful.

(115,735 posts)Go ahead. Or hasn't David Brock given you those talking points yet?

(744 posts)I support you.
The Velveteen Ocelot
(115,735 posts)who has been hired by the Clinton campaign to engage in Rove-style ratfucking and to spread as much FUD as possible. The reason I believe this is because it's true: http://www.nydailynews.com/news/politics/king-hillary-clinton-paying-trolls-attack-people-online-article-1.2613980 and http://observer.com/2016/03/hillary-clinton-must-sever-ties-with-dirty-tricks-hitman-david-brock/
barrow-wight
(744 posts)So do you also believe, by some strange bridge of false equivalence, that every Hillary supporter you encounter is hired by the Clinton campaign? I'm just trying to understand how deep this rabbit hole goes.
The Velveteen Ocelot
(115,735 posts)However, there has been a sudden wave of new posters who are unusually fanatical in their support for Hillary and their hate for Bernie, and I do wonder how many of those are actually brockpuppets. I am quite sure most DUers who have been supporting Hillary since the beginning are sincere, but for the most part their remarks are not hateful so I respect them.
barrow-wight
(744 posts)Hardly. I just think she's a better candidate. I wouldn't call myself the Hillary equivalent of a Berniecrat or a Birdiecrat or any of the other ways people devote themselves to that candidate.
The Velveteen Ocelot
(115,735 posts)I merely wanted to know why you thought Bernie was motivated by hate and asked you to come up with an example of a hateful statement that he made.
*crickets*
barrow-wight
(744 posts)You're talking about us new posters like we're fanatical. Doesn't take a psychic to figure out what you're trying to say, but please, backpedal if you will.
I never said he made statements that could be explicitly hateful. He's too smart for that. But, in my opinion, he is driven by hatred and that's why he's fighting like the sorest loser I ever did see.
merrily
(45,251 posts)Gee, I never thought I'd see someone who joined DU in May 2016 making that point!
barrow-wight
(744 posts)I don't think she's made hateful statements either but I think some of the folks here would hear her say "Hello" and say it was hateful.
merrily
(45,251 posts)And, now we have a hello victim card, too! It just keeps getting funnier.

I can tell that you're one of those that likes to keep going back and forth and back and forth so I'll leave you to your emotions.
Have a pleasant evening.

(45,251 posts)I love being left to my emotions. I have fun. Some Hillary supporters, on the other hand, can't seem to stop projecting about hate, anger and other negative emotions I feel bad for them.
barrow-wight
(744 posts)... for the emotional crash that's coming once it becomes clear to some folks that Bernie has lost.
Well, I sorta feel bad.

(744 posts)That Jonestownradicals site everyone's been talking about? I can't keep track of these conversations. Too many of you sound alike.
merrily
(45,251 posts)Linking to a website for supporters of Sanders proves zero about me personally, except that I support Sanders. Ridiculous and lame to imply that it does. Of you can't keep track of who posts what, you shouldn't throw around accusations.
You might ruin (snort) your credibility as a poster.
Speaking of lame, have you noticed that each of your flailing replies to me has gotten weaker and weaker?
barrow-wight
(744 posts)You're not?
merrily
(45,251 posts)hung around anyway, long enough to get called out for pulling stuff that I could not support from my ear and getting weaker by the post. Glad you're enjoying yourself despite all that. Most other people would just be embarrassed by now.
However, your responses are getting less and less interesting, which is a nicer way of saying boring. In any event, I'm bored with this conversation. Have a great day!

(9,385 posts)My Dad was just like that. He had the same wirey build and the same energy and stamina, both physical and mental. He went on like that, just like Bernie, and only slowed down a little the year before he died, at 97. He was a teacher, published writer, and a farmer, and was super-psyched about doing all of it.
Some people are lit by a fire inside, to do what they're determined to do. Bernie has actually seemed to be enjoying this, and after reading this article, I think he probably is!
The weird thing is, Jane reminds me of my Mom too! Lol! She was very much the same type of person. Very low-key, but fun, kind, very positive, and smart. More educated than one would guess (she had a masters' degree, which wasn't that common among the WW2 generation).
I feel like I "get" them a bit more now. A good article, thanks for it! Apt cartoon too!

(51,076 posts)knowing full well we HAVE to get our shit together like never before.
Thats what drives him more than anything IMO
Manifestor_of_Light
(21,046 posts)Men generally have more energy than women due to having more testosterone.
More women have auto-immune diseases, like the most common kind of thyroid deficiency.
Yes, Bernie does love his country and his fellow humans and that does motivate him to work for change.

(24,010 posts)...cuz I was wondering myself. I'm 71 and I could NOT keep this pace. Listen to this:
On this holiday weekend when Donald Trump, the presumptive Republican nominee, had scheduled just one public event and Hillary Clinton, the most likely Democratic nominee, had nothing public on her schedule, Sanders held one rally after another, interspersed with TV appearances. Ventura, Pomona, and Jimmy Kimmel on Thursday; Long Beach, Inglewood, the Young Turks and Bill Maher on Friday; Santa Barbara, Santa Maria and Bakersfield on Saturday; Visalia and Fresno on Sunday; a few stops in Oakland on Monday.--from the OP (my emphasis)
Those areas are far apart. CA is huge state. That's a lot of travel! And in every clip I've seen of him, he looks and sounds fresh and energized! He is phenomenal! I WANT THIS MAN WORKING ON OUR BEHALF IN THE WHITE HOUSE!
Hillary and Donald can take a Space X rocket to Mars and do their little kabuki theatre there! I want a REAL PRESIDENT who has nothing on his mind but the interests of the people he is serving, and has no other purpose in life but to provide that service, and has 1,000 x the energy of anybody else to do that service with! No lucrative deals with the Saudis on his mind. No wanting to play with the "big boys" in the Fortune 500 or the "Project for a New American Century." No private email server to tend to; no Articles of Impeachment to be presented on the day after his inauguration. No idiotic "walls" to build. No brown people to kick out of the country. No investment portfolios to worry about. No slush funds. No return favors owed to the banksters.
Someone who likes simple living, who likes people, who listens to their problems, and will spend ALL his time and energy solving them! Someone for whom a quick stop at a diner and a brisk walk in the fresh air fully energizes him for the next rally of the 7 scheduled for that weekend in between TV appearances!
My God, WHAT are we losing if we don't make this man President!
The only thing I don't like about the article is that it's got Clinton campaign and Corrupt Media propaganda in it, about Sanders' chances at the nomination. His chances are much better than this article says! For instance, the latest polls show that Sanders has erased a large deficit in CA and is now even with Clinton. All the momentum is on his side AND he very often outdoes the polls, sometimes by significant margins, probably because pollsters are simply not capturing new voters, young voters and independent voters. CA registered 850,000 new voters in CA as of March 31--a huge surge, mostly Democratic registrations, mostly young people.

(4,482 posts)I noticed the same energy in Admiral Joe Sestak when I volunteered for his campaign in 2010.
At 6 pm on the eve of the election, he was making the rounds of campaign offices to thank the volunteers.
I was dead tired after being there all day; and I noticed that his aides were tired, too. But Admiral Sestak was full of energy.
Sad that he won't be our candidate in November.
