2016 Postmortem
Related: About this forumWhat are the Clinton supporters most mad about? #1, or #2?
#1... She got caught.
How in the world did she get caught? Thought was she could do anything and get away with it. How did she so badly mismanage the situation and have State's IG issuing such a damaging report that makes her look like she can't really manage?
#2 ... That the FBI is about to issue a report on the FBI investigation, having not cleared her already? What's taking the FBI so long? Don't they know time is of the essence and that the longer it goes on the worse it appears for the Clintons?
I wonder which of the two most disturbs the Clinton camp?

(13,685 posts)Thing is rest of us were expecting her to get caught doing something. But mismanaging a government email system? That's a surprise. But then, information means money and power. Thankfully we have a SoS who's for honest government, otherwise it would have stayed hidden. Way to go Kerry!

(45,851 posts)If people don't talk about it nothing happened and everything is fine.
It's kind of the reverse of that thing with the tree in the forest if no one is there to hear it.

(14,459 posts)They are probably thinking that if the bomb drops during the GE cycle, there won't be a way for her to be removed. I see that as the major reason they are screaming for Bernie to get out of the race.
What they are REALLY mad about is that she is not getting a free pass for this- the excuse that the Bush Admin did it was supposed to be the fallback for everything this election...and that might have worked had Jeb been the nominee as planned. Things change and the talking points stay the same.

(5,761 posts)It's obvious that they don't care either.
They turn their displaced aggression to us Bernie supporters because we "got in the way" of what was supposed to be a cake walk. Then the FBI happened. What gets me is they act like they simply don't care at all. It's complete disconnect.

(9,905 posts)But what makes them mad about that is that some of us actually care about honesty and integrity because they don't. We make them look bad.

(7,638 posts)That is an emotion I see from the Sanders supporters more often than not. I like to analyze and make choices with a clear head. I can't do that yelling, screaming and ranting and dishonestly call it a informed decision.

(1,065 posts)I don't understand them. For instance
Trump people want a Wall/temp ban on muslims (mainly)
Bernie people want (money out of politics, tuition free college/debt free,Universal Healthcare)
Hillary people want ...? ..Idk. (Besides the obvious, yeah would be cool to have first woman president)
But.. Idk what else they get with hillary... Everything the same?

(85,998 posts)...and it's sophistry to pretend that's the SoS's function in office.
I'll bet we're not as mad as you are that you can't elect Sanders over this trumped-up scandal.

(59,504 posts)System. The normal process is that the chief of staff for the SoS or the SoS go to the IT people and get the Department equipment and accounts.
I think the Clinton people are angry because, in their view, the primaries should have ended in March as they have in many years. However this is not 2000 or 2004 and Bernie did win 21 contests. Though further behind than she ever was in 2008, Bernie will not be eliminated until June 6 or 7 from potentially getting half the pledged count.
I suspect they might be angriest at those of us who say there are 2 flawed candidates, then reluctantly choose Bernie. They likely feel the same confusion and hurt I felt in 2004 when many now say that while they will vote for her, they will hold their noses. I remember yearning for them to really see Kerry for who he is. I would not be surprised if HRC felt the same with HRC.
There have been many posts that suggest that as she is our nominee there should be no discussion of potential negatives or scandals. It is not just that she has not technically won, but the SD IG report is a big deal. It does not imply she will be indicted or preclude her from being President.
I will vote for her in the general election, bit I will not defend her on this or defend her character. I did that without thought for her and her husband in the 1990s. I can not do it again. I seriously do not get why she did this knowing that if found out, it is an issue.
