Related: About this forumIf anyone thinks the Democratic Party is not owned by money interests, ask yourself this:
Why is it that the democratic establishment works so dam hard to get Bernie Sanders out of the race, yet these same people often cave into Republicans or fail to defend the party ideals?

Thinkingabout
(30,058 posts)Influenced by the money? Sanders himself has not produced where this has happened. In the case of Sanders, the NEW donatedv $18,000 to defeat his opponent when he ran for congress and he rewarded them with five votes against the Brady Bill.

Thinkingabout
(30,058 posts)talking points, lots of stories which have been proven to be untrue. Sanders did not have an occasion where there was influence. It just may be because he has been influenced by a gun lobby like NRA he thinks others do the same, poor analogy.

(36,063 posts)and the meaning of compromise.
Theoretically, and in my lightweight opinion the arena of contemporary 'pragmatic politics', it's quite possible to define party ideals in such a way as to completely take the sting of compromising said ideals out of the equation.
Party ideals aren't a Constitution, they are rather more like hand of cards dealt to politicians, examined, traded for new cards, and then played. But the card game itself isn't important. Being invited to the table, to be an associate of other big players -THAT- is what is important.
US politics is no longer a program of one for all and all for one, although suckers are played with such phrases.
It's a career path that engages making contacts and building celebrity. At the end of a political career, or within corrupt political deployments, those contacts and the celebrity are very lucrative. Very lucrative.

The status quo was rolling along just fine, until Bernie Sanders came along and mucked it up with his crazy ideas about democracy, equality and justice." ~ Anonymous

Sure, DEMs are better than GOP, but neither party works for the people. They only work for the special interests.
