2016 Postmortem
Related: About this forumWe really are going to let Trump win aren't we?
There aren't enough racist assholes in this country for him to win outright
The only way Trump can possibly win is if WE let him win, and by the looks of it I think that is whats going to happen.
Bernie or busters , Iraq vote, emails, Hillary or busters, all of this infighting will let Trump win.
Both sides need to chill the fuck out and get serious about this.
A man who has said he would build a wall, deport all immigrants and ban a whole religion from entering the US, is one election away from the White House

(10,559 posts)It starts with lots of money, a narrative about how she was inevitable with hundreds of super delegates before the voting started, epic name recognition, no publicity for debates, no national GOTV effort (first time in ever), then some very "unusual" patterns of problems with fraudulent voter registration switches, and magical exit polls that suddenly are only accurate for Republicans/not Democrats.
The Bernie team has built their organization IN SPITE OF DNC obstructionism, including reports of sabotage by people employed by the Bernie campaign who were collecting money from Clinton Foundation grants in the first set of primaries.
The dirty tricks were also interesting: Bernie the Civil Rights Protester suddenly portrayed as a racist, the guy who has stood 100% for women's reproductive rights proclaimed a misogynist, the social justice advocate invited to a conference at the Vatican suddenly in Pope-Gate, and of course the Nevada riots that weren't actually riots by any definition of the word (just off the top of my head).

And that is as it should be.
Clinton will be the presumptive nominee on June 8, but they'll keep it an extra week to let DC have their say I guess.

So when you say WE be sure you actually mean Team Hillary and her supporters. Don't sweat it she is the most vetted candidate evah, what could possibly go wrong? A spoonful of accountability will help the I told you so's go down. Have no fear, you earned this. It's yours.

(15,429 posts)It really should be after June 7 since everybody and their brother will be calling Hillary Clinton the nominee, but Skinner is a really nice guy and always gives the benefit of the doubt.
We can wait an extra week, and for those who can't, Markos started banning on March 15, so there is always DailyKos as a hangout if it gets too insane during the final week.
For my part I have over 500 in the ignore box and will spend Tuesday, June 7, unleashing them from the box just to watch and laugh as it all comes to an end.

(3,431 posts)happily looking forward to a second Clinton
impeachment. They don't talk about it , because
they just want her to win at any cost, because
the status quo is more important than anything
else.
And if Trump should win, it has been the result of
choosing the worst and weakest candidate the party
could not only find, but it has tried and is trying to
ram down the peoples throat.

If Clinton supporters are blind to this, it's nobody's fault but their own. Nothing can change that.

(18,837 posts)I don't have the answer for you. I wish I had.
I've announced many times on DU what I intend to do if and when Clinton becomes the nominee.
I'll still be on DU, and I'll post in GD and the Lounge, and I won't participate in any threads that have the name "Hillary" in them.
It's pretty simple...it's Skinner's Website, he gets to decide what gets posted here and what doesn't, and I respect that.
It's unfortunate that it's come down to Clinton or Trump.
I'm not a Trump supporter, so I have no fear of being part of the "great enema" or whatever childish label people want to put on the mass purging that I'm confident is right around the corner.
But I'm also not a Clinton supporter, and I know that the way to retain my membership I have to follow the advice that many of our moms gave us..."If you can't say something nice, don't say anything at all." I don't believe a lack of support for Clinton is a show of support for Trump. Life just isn't that black and white. I know a lot of people are going to disagree with that, and that's their right. Whether we picked Clinton or the DNC picked her for us, nothing's going to make her "my candidate."
So what I'll have to say about Clinton on DU after Skinner "calls it" will be "nothing at all," and moms all over America will smile.

(7,300 posts)What's her role in persuading voters to vote for her? So this isn't about Sec Clinton being a progressive who gets things done? She says she is but then why aren't progressives flocking to her? What about those law and order types? Certainly she appeals to those as she's such a stickler for the rule of law being a lawyer and all.
Hmmm, turns out 11,000,000 isn't enough votes to win a GE.
A woman who has said she dodged sniper fire, claimed to be a progressive a week before pleading guilty to being a moderate and claimed for a year that her private, unsecured email server was allowed is one election away from the White House.

(32,727 posts)Today I had an epiphany during Trump's presser: the media is NEVER going to hold him accountable, which means neither of our candidates have a shot in hell of beating him. The media flocks to every event Trump holds... He gets millions of dollars worth of free coverage every day... No other candidate stands a chance. I hope I'm wrong.
