Sargent Shriver was born in Maryland, and I believe the only state McGovern won that year was Massachusetts. So I think that would be it.

McGovern also won District of Columbia. ( I guess you could call it a state? )

Robinson was from Arkansas and they carried that state.
Of course, doesn't Mitt have like three, four, or five home states?

Sherman died before the election and was replaced by Nicholas Murray Butler, also of New York.

I cannot find a single presidential candidate who lost their state of residence and still won the election.
