Democrats Have 2nd Straight Good Day of Early Voting in Colorado

..While Republicans had a good start to the week, for the second straight day, Democrats have slowly chipped away at the Republican edge in Colorado. Two updates ago, Republicans held a 3.0% voter edge. That dropped to 2.8% yesterday and down to 2.6% today. In 2008, Republicans had a 1% edge and Obama still won by 9%. Democrats are running just 1.6% behind their ’08 numbers. If that holds, it’d be hard for Romney to be victorious.

The better news for Dems? 60.4% of votes in Colorado are already in, so it may be difficult for Republicans to grow that margin by much more. At the current rate, over 2/3rds of voters in Colorado will have voted before election day. 1,462,000 ...

JMO, but Colorado people tend to have a "western" point of view and don't take labels easily. Many of the people I've volunteered with on campaigns are dyed-in-the-wool bleeding hearts and liberal-minded and members of their county's Democrats, yet have never switched their voter registration to the Democratic Party...and probably won't. I am Unaffiliated on the official forms but always call myself a Democrat and Liberal. Affiliating is just not how many out here tend to do things, I guess.

Anyway, the data on early voting/mail-in ballots only reflects what party the voter is affiliated with...and as I wrote, people don't like labels out here.

Based on my gut intuition, and results from 2008, we can guess that Obama is taking 53% or more of these Unaffiliated early votes!
