11/2 Early voting Iowa Record numbers Obama up 62,780

The bottom line in Iowa is that both sides are out performing 2008. The Republicans are doing cartwheels because we haven't reached the 94,000 early voting advantage of 2008. Maybe. But the latest live interview poll has Obama up by

(Oh and for a little humor Gravis has Obama up by 4)

Here are the cumulative numbers for the absentee ballot requests:

Dems 296,077 (42.89%)
Reps 213,222 (30.88%)
Inds 180,175 (26.10%)
Oth 902 (negligible)

TOTAL 690,376

Here are the new ballot requests since the last report:

Dems +5,055
Reps +4,848
Inds +5,033

And now, here are the cumulative numbers for actual ballots cast:

Dems 251,078 (43.31%)
Reps 188,298 (32.23%)
Inds 143,992 (24.32%)
Oth 727 (negligible)

TOTAL 584,095

Here are the ballots cast since the previous daily report:

Dems +9,648
Reps +8,623
Inds +8,445

This is a decent report, although early voting is slowing down a bit in general. But overall turnout among early voting is up sharply from 2008. In that election, about 545,000 votes were cast before election day. Currently, 584,095 votes have been cast already and there are still a few days of early voting left. We now lead in ballots cast by 62,780. By the end of early voting in 2008, we led Republicans by about 94,000 ballots cast. By the end of early voting in 2004 (about 460,000 ballots cast) we were ahead by 52,000 ballots cast.

We're in a good position, but there is work to be done! GOTV!

Now maybe I can get some sleep at night, as I've seen DK's other EV numbers and they match nearly identically.

I trust they'll keep the Rethugs honest from here on out.
