that the overall vote count were to be an actual numerical tie, the likelihood of an EV tie is passingly small, despite Rachel Maddow's cogent explanation of how that can happen.

Ever since 1968 this kind of thing has been out there for almost every election. Either that or the possibility of a brokered convention, which also has not happened since something like 1948 or 1952.

The media, as well as individuals, seem to thrive on anticipating chaos.
