Hopefully, the remaining customers will have power by the end of today.
This morning, Peco has its outage total down to 140,000, predominantly in Bucks and Montgomery Counties.
By midnight, the utility hopes to have restored power to 90 percent of the record 850,000 customers who lost it at some point because of superstorm Sandy.
So far, the two thousand workers on electrical and tree crews have replaced 52 miles of wires and cables, 225 utility poles, 47 transformers, nearly 6,000 fuses, and 714 crossarms - the top pieces that make a pole like a T, according to Peco.
No word yet on how many trees and branches had to be cut and removed.
Bucks had 84,000 homes and businesses still out this morning, but that was about 100,000 fewer than Tuesday morning. Also in the dark in Bucks this morning were another 21,000 customers of PPL Electric and First Energy's Met Ed.
Montgomery County was at 45,000 this morning, by Peco's count, down from 175,000 three mornings ago. Another 5,500 Montco outages today belonged to PPL and Met Ed.
Philadelphia and Delaware County had about 4,000 outages apiece this morning, Chester County about 3,000. Collectively those three areas had 225,000 out the morning after the storm blew through with winds near hurricane-strength.

(3,436 posts)With the storm and all, are the people concentrating on clean up and recovery or are they going to go vote?

(143 posts)I work in an office with all Republicans and none of them expect Mittens to win. They are actually angry that Mittens didn't try to make a solid play for PA early than this last week attack ads that he is doing.
I know that me and my friends at the local Obama office are very excited!!

(11,816 posts)I'm in the Ft Washington area - we were only out two days. A friend in Glenside never lost electricity, and it was an odd little island of light Monday night (we drove over for dinner).
I understand Lafayette Hill was still dark yesterday.
I'll be canvassing tomorrow, doing a charity "run" (well, walk) in town on Sunday, then working the polls Tuesday - it's a long week ahead.

(9,893 posts)Ours just came back late last night. I gotta say, the election is not tops on my mind, but by Tuesday I expect my life will be back to normal. I would still vote, even if the power were still out then, but there is a preoccupation in these parts that is not about who's President. The Obama/Christie love fest was rather heartening, even if I'm not in New Jersey, and even if I know damn well Christie was kissing the hand that feeds him.
