Could be apocryphal so editing away...

Last edited Fri May 20, 2016, 11:52 PM - Edit history (1)

(It's possible this never happened and anyway I don't even know who Allen Iverson is, but the purported speech was funny and true to me so I posted it.)

Allen Iverson on the "violence" of Sanders supporters in Nevada:

"But we're talking about **flipped chairs** man. What are we talking about? Chairs? We're talking about chairs, man. [laughter from the media crowd] We're talking about chairs. We're talking about chairs. We ain't talking about capitalism running amok, racism everywhere, ecological crisis, political system run by rich people. [more laughter] We're talking about **flipped chairs** man. But we're talking about chairs right now."

Sorry, can only find FB link.

He's one of the all-time best NBA players of all time.

In the early 2000 years, he may have been the best player in the game. Super exciting to watch too. Specialized in the crossover dribble, leaving defenders in the dust.

The bad part?

Looks like he never got his act together. There's all kinds of reports, but he came into the NBA with a bad reputation, and it stuck with him. I've heard from time to time that he wasted his entire fortune which was something like $ 100 million.

Don't know what's true and what isn't, but I had heard that he had a big gambling problem. I also heard he never had an investment account. He spent his money as he earned it. That's hard to believe, but it's what I heard.

Anyway, he was a pleasure to watch. Only Michael Jordan has a higher scoring average in playoff games than he does in all of NBA history, and he was only about 6' tall. He's still young. I hope he's doing well.

Why does any care what this guy has to say? He not exactly a respected political source, so once again some poor Sanders proper-upper is so desperate that they'll C&P ANYTHING if it has even one nice word about their crumbling idol.

That's the best you can churn out? Look at yourself, anxiously flailing around and frantically trying to defend ... who? A has been sports figure with a checkered past? He's your go to guy now just because he said something nice about Sanders because you lot have nothing left but the scrapings from the bottom of the barrel -- exball players and Fauxnews say Bernie's great -- yea! Meanwhile, the legitimate news, op eds, the real political pundits are peeling off in droves and exposing Sanders as the con man he is, who will take the whole party down with him.

his. Yours is about all The Bubble has. Discredit anyone and everyone. Defend. Disregard. Can't say anything bad about Bernie other than he's an opponent of HRC or HRH, whichever you prefer.

And the con man? Pshaw. He just won't get out of Hillary's way. Yet we still have a "con job" and much more awaiting the Investigation and depositions from them.

I agree. Time to stop and wait.

Oh wait... I found the quote :

"We sitting in here -- I'm supposed to be the franchise player, and we in here talking about practice. I mean, listen: We talking about practice. Not a game. Not a game. Not a game. We talking about practice. Not a game. Not the game that I go out there and die for and play every game like it's my last. Not the game. We talking about practice, man."

and the incident:

HAMPTON — Allen Iverson, touted as one of the country's finest high school basketball players , was convicted Monday of three felony counts for taking part in a chair-throwing brawl at a bowling alley.

http://articles.dailypress.com/1993-07-13/news/9307130073_1_mr-iverson-allen-iverson-bowling-alley

that was the basis for the meme.
