2016 Postmortem
Related: About this forumEarth to the Democratic Establishment: Not just ANY woman will do.
I am so sick and tired of having political hacks (especially the men) tell me how much women of America want to elect their first woman President so they will rally around Hillary Clinton.
Women have long dreamed of the first woman President. BUT, we have dreamed of that first woman President being someone that we can point to and say to our male counterparts, look at our first female President, isn't she something.
We want someone the nation will admire and respect because as the first woman President she is representing all women.
You think women want the first woman President to be mired in scandals and muck? To have an unfavorable rating that is the highest in history (and Trump has only started)? To be a woman who makes false charges of sexism for political reasons (ignoring how it will negatively impact woman actually hurt by sexism)? A woman who is viewed as dishonest by the majority of Americans? Are you kidding me?
As someone told me the other day - she does not represent me. And as a millennial voter said to me a few months back - I want to see a woman President, but not this woman.

Just today, I was being told how the Latino vote made up for the AA vote among PoC...(Latinos breaking for Sanders), When the PR poll is posted, showing Hillary ahead by a YUUUUGE margin!

(9,967 posts)LGTB. Millennials have already stated if it's a choice between her and Trump, they chose her. LANDSLIDE, BABY!
And I believe that she will win her second term by a bigger margin. That's what happened in NY when she was a Senator.
Once the Millennials get to know her and see that much of her "issues" were right wing smears, they will firmly support her

But hey, we don't always get what we want.

(21,675 posts)she's 84, lifelong dem, and watches msnbc religiously. i've tried to tell her that the democratic party she grew up with is not the same as the one now, but she can't see it. she was always one to keep her head in the sand about the truth. My bro and I worked on her to show her that Bernie was THE only choice, but she WANTS TO SEE A WOMAN PRESIDENT before she dies. *sigh* such a shallow reason is dumbfounding for me.
so, yes, there are some out there.

(2,405 posts)And these scandals you speak of--are right-wing smears.. She never broke the law, like the other side is insinuating. You guys keep talking about dishonesty--this is not a high school popularity contest. Hillary is qualified.

(110,159 posts)lies and foundation sexism in grace and strength. She does it, all the while remaining the front runner, eyes ahead, for her win.
In all things Clinton, this one things makes her an excellent candidate for the first woman president.
