Related: About this forumHillary Goes Silent on Gun Control...While George Zimmerman Profits
It is an OUTRAGE that Hillary
is silent on the tragic epidemic
of gun violence.
After all her attention she gave
to the victims of gun violence
she is completely absent on the
recent grotesque auction of the
gun that murdered Travon Martin.
George Zimmerman's auction topped
out at OVER $120,000....
and Hillary hasn't made a peep about
this horrifying profiting from murder.
Hillary MUST speak out about the
miscarriage of justice and the
atrocious profiting from the misery
of the family concerned.

Hillary is the nominee.
She needs to pivot to the GE
and speak out loudly about gun violence.
Hillary needs to crack down on those
2nd amendment gun nuts NOW!
Hillary's silence could come off as
either indifference or complicity?

(15,805 posts)What are you talking about?
Do you even know her position on gun violence prevention? She has a long record on supporting gun control efforts, so you're making wild accusations that have no basis in fact.
And look here, if you think that any president has the unilateral powers to "crack down on those 2nd amendment gun nuts", you don't even know how laws are made. Get rid of the Republican majority in congress if you ever want to see gun control happen.
You know that Hillary isn't the nominee yet, and she can't "pivot to the GE" because Sanders is still running his con game and attacking her in the primaries.
Maybe yere you just having a bad day, but this thread was a bad idea and it looks a bit unhinged.

(15,805 posts)What you're saying is that YOU don't know it, and YOU don't want to learn anything more. You're more interested in tagging her with derogatory labels to prop up your confirmation biases than finding out your cherished idioms might be flawed.
I can't wrap my brain around this level of deliberate, wilful ignorance, it's just an appalling attitude for any reasonable adult to maintain such a fiction in the face of all the information to the contrary that's readily available to everyone.

(1,009 posts)I remember it well, even the fake southern drawl. This primary, shes calling Sandars an NRA lackey, and pandering to the anti giun movement.
I truly dont know what to expect.

(90 posts)Keeping in mind she is not an office-holder at any level, and has no executive powers.
She can speak out ... but that would alienate a large portion of the electorate.
As has been pointed out, Zimmerman was acquitted by a jury, ... that makes him a free man entitled to sell his possessions like anyone else.

Legal - Yes

(2,124 posts)I wouldn't mention it at all if I were her. To do so would elevate that scumbag Zimmerman in a way that would only make him more popular with the loons.
He and his actions don't deserve any media coverage at all. It only helps him make more money.
HRC had talked about gun violence for decades. I am sure she will continue to do so.

No more and no less than Sanders is also doing. Though I'm sure a creative justification Sanders' own righteous silence will be forthcoming quickly.

(34,845 posts)Zimmerman was found innocent and he's entitled to sell any of his private possessions. He is a monster, imo, but the law says otherwise, at least for now.

(10,164 posts)No gun control proposal short of a complete ban on civilian possession would have prevented that assclown from buying a gun. This is really just a matter of a shithead being a shithead.
But yeah: Hillary's already started her lurch to the right. We won't be hearing much about gun control out of Camp Weathervane for the next few months. It'll probably surprise posters that know me that I'm not happy about that. Yes, I'm a gun owner (and a competition shooter, in fact)...but I very much support a number of additional gun control measures. That said, it's probably best to push to enact many of these on the state level, like the universal background check law we recently enacted here in Oregon.

(10,164 posts)I tend to see Hillary's "sincerity" largely only in matters of direct benefit to Hillary...but I also acknowledge that that's probably a harsh judgement on my part.

I use Excel spreadsheet's pivot table function, but I don't think they should use such a good word to describe what essentially means..."Yeah I said that before but tough shit if you believed me cuz I gotta lie to some other people now."
