2016 Postmortem
Related: About this forumI get it now - Bernie's supporters are questioning the entire process, and must be brought to heel.
The Dem Establishment has ZERO tolerance for this kind of insubordination. Bernie and his supporters are going to be attacked from now until the convention, because they have dared to call the entire party apparatus corrupt. And after the charade in Nevada this weekend, we all have ample evidence that it really is a sham. It's one thing to attack Hillary's positions, even to question her personal integrity. But when the integrity of the entire party system is called into question, you're basically questioning the legitimacy of the eventual nominee. The legitimacy of the party, even.
So we're hitting bedrock. And I totally get what they're doing - the Dem Establishment is in survival mode now, and they really aren't thinking anymore about the damage this is doing to their chances in November. Their main goal now is to silence and subdue the voices of dissent, the claims that they are corrupt.
But they are corrupt, through and through. And the more they attack Bernie and his supporters, the more the world will know it. The Democratic Party as we know it is on the verge of exploding.

Is the democratic party corrupt? The organization exist to organize people and collect money to get democrats elected. Some people, particularly those new to politics are shocked that is what the party's objective is.

(2,331 posts)Mostly the same people that are following Bernie right now...If the Bernie supporters showed up at the polls in 2010 and 2014 they probably wouldn't have as much to bitch about.

He wasn't stupid, he wanted media attention so he ran for the nomination of a party he caucuses with and throws knives at occasionally.

(9,841 posts)Arbitrary and capricious, undemocratic and dictatorial. This is not what Bernie and his supporters signed up for. They have every right to tell the world what a sham the process has become.

(2,902 posts)during the aye vote and instead waited until the nay vote, none of this would have happened. I saw the video. They did this to themselves.

(2,902 posts)Do you not understand how voice votes work? The Bernie supporters booed during the yes vote thus making the yes pass. How can you call it spin when it is what they decided to do? The video proves that. They screamed at the wrong time. That's how it works no matter how many times you people claim it doesn't. Read Robert's Rules of Order. That's how things be.

(19,326 posts)This is not just Bernie's last harrah, as pundits love pointing out, it's also US democracy's if Bernie looses.
I like what you've written, to a point. I'm not confident that declaring the entire Democratic Party to be corrupt isn't hurting Bernie if it isn't much more nuanced, so as to only include the most agriegous examples of corruption.
Otherwise he's casting dispersions needlessly alienating many of the very Democrats he'll be needing to "win over", esp since many are Super-delegates.

(5,275 posts)give them more money...and Bernie isn't going to play that game...
THAT game is the whole fucking problem...

(9,841 posts)There are simply too many incidents of shady behavior, too many unexplained shenanigans. Why can't we have a recount of certain primaries, like maybe Kentucky or Massachusetts? Why can't we investigate what happened to the registrations of almost 100 delegates in Nevada?
If the Democratic Party wants us to "behave", they're going to have to show us that they respect our concerns. And take action.
