2016 Postmortem
Related: About this forumFox News is tip-toeing around inciting riots
I watched a bit of Fox News this morning (10 am start to work on Thursdays) and they appear to be hinting and suggesting that rights in NY and NJ may be on the brink.
Fox & Friends were highlighting lines for gas like it was their mindless minions lining up at Chick-Fil-a
The next show (has a blonde on it) lead with "tensions are high" "long gas lines".
and this is on their homepage now:
State troopers deployed as tensions boil at gas stations in Sandy's wake

The odd part is that the people who would be incited by this can't see TV right now.
The eeire part for me is that this is the only thing that could possibly stop The President's re-election at this point which is probably why they are doing it. IF there is any unrest (and that is a concern) Fox News will convince their believers that it is widespread and that is worrisome.
Just something to think about.

(3,678 posts)It's tough. Americans are not prepared to lose basic services for even a few days. Hopefully the right stuff is moving in the right directions :/

(1,739 posts)Told me that gas lines are really long. Like an hour wait. So many stations are shut down due. Yo lack of power.

(9,933 posts)Lines were crazy long. No one freaked out though, but no one was happy about it. FOX is just trying to create a situation where there is none desperately trying to turn momentum their way.

(16,350 posts)Tensions to that extreme could occur only when people feel no help is coming for a prolonged period. I think all the governmental elements are making progress and making that progress known.
Fox News doesn't understand New Yorkers and doesn't have any tools at its disposal to manipulate them into a riot. If there are long lines for gasoline (who drives in NYC?), New York is sophisticated enough to take a good deal of that in stride. I doubt Fox has that many viewers in the city anyway, if they even have the electricity to watch tv. Don't worry.

(517 posts)everyone is being very civil and orderly about it. No riots...
I do have to say that there is police presence at every gas station I've seen that has gas. Again, just directing traffic and creating an orderly line.
No drama.
