Related: About this forumThe Great Disconnect: Democrats in DC think there is nothing wrong with the way they do business
There is nothing wrong with they and their family members cashing in, in appointed officials cashing in, in letting the lobbyists write legislation and cash in, in letting the 1% prey on working class Americans, and in lying to the American people to get elected and to get bills passed for their big money backers. And when they give crumbs to the little people, they view themselves as the ultimate do-gooders, telling each other how wonderful they are.
They have gotten away with it for so long and it has become such an acceptable manner of conduct within their sphere they can't comprehend why the American people would be upset and why they wouldn't just fall in line.
You fail to realize that many people might decide they fear the continuance of this system and what it means to our country far more than they could ever fear the opposing party (especially when by embracing Clinton you have sent a clear message that you wholeheartedly embrace and approve of that system).
You ensure the American Dream for you, your friends, and family members while denying that very same dream to so many Americans. You cannot serve two masters and more and more of the American people are realizing just which master politicians on both sides of the aisle have chosen to serve.

Before this, from 1932-1976, the Democratic Party as a whole was far more progressive. The issues and approaches advocated today by Bernie Sanders were considered mainstream Democratic ideas by Franklin D. Roosevelt, John F. Kennedy, and Lyndon Johnson, and even many moderate Republicans. It was common to support strict financial regulation, liberal immigration, social services for the poor, and progressive tax policies.
