2016 Postmortem
Related: About this forumOne day, decades from now, when an HRC flunky is delivering a deathbed confessional
and wants to clear his/her conscience before they make their final exit, we'll hear the entire story of how, back in the year 2016, all the anti-Bernie propaganda got coordinated, who in the media and in the Internet commentary universe got paid off, and who didn't get paid off but were otherwise told/nudged/winked-at to go along with it and push it or else they would find themselves working at McDonalds.
Until then...

-- There are growing fears that the July convention in Philadelphia could be chaotic, perhaps even violent.
-- -- Sanders is quickly becoming a figure every bit as divisive and polarizing among Senate Democrats as Ted Cruz is in the eyes of his Republican colleagues. He may not have forced a government shutdown, but his obstinacy may yet imperil HRC. His defiance is burning bridges, which will make it harder for him to be an effective member of the Senate going forward.
-- -- Weve reached another pivot point in the race. The donnybrook at the convention has been a wake-up call for many liberal commentators, who have viewed Bernie positively because of his success at pulling Hillary to the left. But a new mindset has begun to take hold: If Trump becomes president, Sanders will deserve a big share of the blame. Take this sampling of commentary that posted overnight... (none of whom, Hohmann conveniently neglects to add, were ever Bernie's "allies" to begin with):

(47,209 posts)to POC and women right off the bat. it was hard not to notice the glaring omission in his stump speeches and web site- in fact, impossible if you cared about reproductive rights or the justice system and took a good look at what SBS was putting out.. anyone who dared to note it was accused of rattling off talking points. most of the long time members of the AA group here were accused of being trolls, as were women asking about reproductive rights. not manufactured how badly we were treated either, with all that "playing a card" bullshit.
If anything, they talking points came after.

(761 posts)LBJ, Nixon, the whole crew that got us into and perpetuated Vietnam. To a certain extent, Bill Clinton played me. I never completely trusted him, but I never thought he'd undo so much regulation, gut the safety net, and pass NAFTA. And I've been played a bit this election cycle as I've allowed the bullshit to take my attention away from the issues that matter.
Actually, I'm not the one who told this to me, Michelle Alexander, author of The New Jim Crow, is the one who opened by eyes. James Rucker, co-founder of Color of Change, also opened my eyes. George Lakoff taught me how the elites use language to manipulate, distract, and obfuscate.
Two things that seem contradictory can be true. I agree that Bernie's campaign has been very clumsy in its outreach to persons of color. And the Clinton campaign has been very clever in manipulating that clumsiness into a narrative that Bernie doesn't care.
I remember when I first started reading real history, not the pablum they serve up in public school, but the real stuff and how angry I was about all the lies that had been told to all of us. It's not a pleasant discovery.
I have plenty to cling to, thank you, and things are working out just fine. This is a long struggle with few shortcuts. This cycle is just the beginning and Bernie just happened to be there. But this is much more than him and Hillary and Trump and this election cycle, and so far we are doing pretty well all things considered. I'd love for you to join us, maybe next time.

They're all frivolously talking about death threats from little weenies and completely blowing off the big news of the charge that the Sanders Campaign planned and orchestrated the disruption of the convention, including feeding inflammatory lies to the weenies in order to incite them.

(10,650 posts)Their thumb on the scale was enough to put her over the top.
Also, Hillary had almost unlimited corporate funding and a huge corporate funded PAC. Bernie had to counter that with millions of small donations. The corporations put their thumb on the scale too.
And the corporate media has done everything in their power to ignore, attack, and diminish Bernie. They've pushed the Brock propaganda like the "violence" in Nevada. The corporate media put their thumb on the scale as well.
So, yeah, it was a conspiracy.

Then when Bernie doesn't step aside they say it's the reason we'll have Pres. Trump
