John Koster, a Republican congressional candidate in Washington state, said Sunday that "the rape thing" is not a good enough reason for a woman to have an abortion, the Associated Press reported.
Asked at a campaign fundraiser whether he supports abortion rights in some situations, Koster replied that he only supports abortion in cases where a woman's life is in danger.
"Incest is so rare, I mean, it's so rare," he said. "But the rape thing-- you know, I know a woman who was raped and kept the child, gave it up for adoption, and she doesn't regret it."
He added, "On the rape thing, it's like, how does putting more violence onto a woman's body and taking the life of an innocent child that's a consequence of this crime -- how does that make it better? You know what I mean?"

(4,150 posts)Idiot. Since when does this fucker decide about excusing abortions? Women certainly don't need this ass-hat's seal of approval before making decisions about their OWN bodies.

(10,103 posts)They don't really care about the foetus, they don't care about the children, they don't want to provide any sort of safety net, and they will always blame the woman or the boy or the girl or the baby for the rape. It's about control. Control of women and their bodies and the children they bear. It's about dislike of women. It's absolute bloody nonsense, and I can't understand why any women and most men would put these (expletive deleted) in power. Seriously.
What the hell is wrong with the electorate...or the election process...that these guys are in power.

(10,479 posts)of running for office is if the person actually wants to help his or her state and country--not promote himself so he can manage our lives. His reason is unconsitutional in my book. It knocks the "life, liberty and pursuit of happiness right out of the park. And those Republicans who signed an oath for Grover Norquist have made it impossible to help our country. They can't show fidelity to two opposite masters. I wish someone in Congress who cares would actually bring up this in the next session. Call out these egotistic would-be emporers and make them choose.

(30,058 posts)It is a Muslim thing to rape women as punishment. These guys are promoting Sharia laws and it might be time to introduce laws for anyone thinking like these idiots to say they can never have sex. Who is voting for these dumba$$es? We need to prevent them from running for offices, dumb dumb dumb.
