2016 Postmortem
Related: About this forumThe laughable superPAC ad you won't see unless you live in Ohio.
Like most superPACs, the Akron based "Empower Citizens Network" is a shadowy organization. By all accounts it has no apparent cash flow, and the donors and board members are a mystery.
In this ad you'll "learn" that the notion Democrats support black Americans is a big fat lie. Thanks to the African American narrator we discover that Republicans freed the slaves, founded the NAACP, and Democrats opposed the Equal Rights Amendment. African Americans can find the road to "success and prosperity" can be found by voting out Obama and the Democrats and voting in Republicans:

(3,003 posts)Because it never mentioned the following:
1) Abe Lincoln's Quote from 1858:
I will say, then, that I am not, nor ever have been, in favor of bringing about in any way the social and political equality of the white and black racesthat I am not, nor ever have been, in favor of making voters or jurors of Negroes, nor of qualifying them to hold office, nor to intermarry with white people; and I will say in addition to this, that there is a physical difference between the white and black races which I believe will forever forbid the two races living together on terms of social and political equality. And inasmuch as they cannot so live, while they do remain together there must be the position of superior and inferior, and I, as much as any other man, am in favor of having the superior position assigned to the white race.
2) Congress was controlled by the Democrats throughout the 1960's and the two presidents who pushed hardest for civil rights, Kennedy and Johnson, were both Democrats. Yes, a majority of southern Democrats voted against the 1964 Civil Rights Act, but one should point out that the southern republicans unanimously opposed it (11-0).
Now, is there any other shit this ad forgot to mention?

(18,628 posts)No one. I doubt even the (I hope well) paid narrator will be voting for Romney.
The people it will mostly leave nodding their heads in agreement are those who think African Americans should thank Jesse Helm and Strom Thurmond for the great opportunity blacks found when they unboarded the slave ships.
I DVR many shows and I'm way behind, so that means I'll still be watching this crap around Christmas.

This is the party that complains that Obama's job killing policies are causing them to struggle financially. It doesn't play in heavy rotation like the Crossroads GPS ads here, but it's enough that I don't understand why anyone would throw away actual cash on something that will have no real effect on the election.
It's like if someone asked me if I want to spend money on a case of iPad screen protectors for the storm victims.
