2016 Postmortem
Related: About this forumBernie's Statement On Nevada
https://berniesanders.com/press-release/statement-nevada/Absolutely disgusting. Rather than condemn the abusive actions of his 'fans', Bernie uses this as another excuse to bully the Democratic party into changing their rules to placate him. His lack of leadership is pitiful, and this is another example of why Bernie is not cut out for the Presidency.

(114,904 posts)The chair of the convention announced that the convention rules passed on voice vote, when the vote was a clear no-vote. At the very least, the Chair should have allowed for a headcount.
The chair allowed its Credentials Committee to en mass rule that 64 delegates were ineligible without offering an opportunity for 58 of them to be heard. That decision enabled the Clinton campaign to end up with a 30-vote majority.
The chair refused to acknowledge any motions made from the floor or allow votes on them.
The chair refused to accept any petitions for amendments to the rules that were properly submitted.
These are on top of failures at the precinct and county conventions including trying to depose and then threaten with arrest the Clark County convention credentials chair because she was operating too fairly.

(146,309 posts)I think Bernie Sanders has completely lost control of his campaign. I further think that there is only one action to take: He should withdraw from the campaign and admit that he cannot win the nomination.
Tomorrow morning would be a good time to do that. I doubt it will happen, though. He'll have to lose at the convention, which will happen on the first ballot. He will not be the Democratic nominee. There is no way that will happen.
Say goodnight, Bernie.

At best, his condemnation of violence is rendered insincere by his immediate pivot to providing excuses for any continuation of it.

This campaign is clearly in its final death throes. They're struggling against all odds to stay alive. They're in panic mode, and not thinking too clearly.

(16,672 posts)The Party is to let in people who were not part of the Party previously. Then those people can demand and get rules changed during the process even thought the rules were hashed out previously and worked before with actual party members. If they do not get those rules changed they can attack the organization they were not previously part of from within.
It's like playing with a bunch of kids who change the game rules to fit their winning.
Go start your own damn party and leave the rest of alone. IF you really have the majority of people on your side you shouldn't have a problem doing that.

(13,570 posts)NO EXCUSES for these sickening THREATS made to the party chair in NV nor heckling and shouting when Barbara Boxer and others spoke, etc.
In Maine, yes, Bernie folks won that caucus and were treated MORE than fairly, and yet they still heckled Barney Frank (a VERY progressive man) and shouted other very rude comments when others tried to speak on issues.
This is SOME Sanders supporters, not all. But it is SHIT behavior right up there with Trump supporters. And it needs to STOP!
