(8,064 posts)voters are not contacted when their ballots are thrown out.
how do they have so much information about that one voter?
i'm not doubting that this happens. it is just a strange story because someone would have had to contact that
person to let them know her ballot was thrown out.
also, this is one of the reasons why i will never vote absentee. i want control over my ballot
and i want to put it into the voting box myself so i know it will be counted.

I live in Palm Beach County and requested an absentee ballot because I will be working the polls on election day. I was one of the fortunate people who received a corrected ballot after the misprint was discovered so it arrived late. Before my ballot arrived I was assigned to work my own precinct and a little voice kept whispering, "wait and vote on election day...put your ballot into the scanner yourself." Today I received 2 emails reminding me to mail in my absentee ballot and I have the $1.50 of required postage on hand, but I decided to just bring it with me, to be cancelled at the precinct, and vote there. Now I'm REALLY glad I hesitated.

(6,907 posts)I assumed that meant it was counted, but I don't know now if "received" means "counted."
