2016 Postmortem
Related: About this forumWOW! Amazing admission from Chucky Toad..."It never breaks."
He was commenting about how people like him always talk about "if it breaks for (candidate)"...but that it NEVER BREAKS. He said throughout history, they always say stuff like "If it breaks for Kerry..." but that it never breaks. When polls are this consistent, it never breaks!
The awakening.

I love it here. And the jury service is such an awesome idea, I've never seen it in other forums.

(204 posts)THERE IS NOTHING TO BREAK. The number of undecided voters is just low and Obama's leads in the swing states surpass that number. There is nothing to break. If something broke, it wouldn't matter anyway.

(2,795 posts)I think Romney peaked a couple of weeks ago but was still trailing and since the VP and last 2 debates Obama's lead has increased and solidified. Sandy should have same effect in defeating Romney as Bin Ladin tape was for sealing Kerry's fate - swaying some voters behind the incumbent who is showing strength and unifying country in time of uncertainty. Plus Romney shot himself in the foot with the auto bailout fiasco.
My pet theory is that the candidate who in the consensus of mainstream media is the most derided and made to look petty and ridiculous or at least weak and wishy washy and irrelevant gets defeated= Carter, Bush SR, Dole, Gore, Dukakis, Kerry, McCain and now Romney. Despite best attempts of right wing to paint Obama as a weak failure and that first debate which hurt his image, Obama has emerged as a strong leader after 2 good debates, vigorous campaigning and now the Sandy events while air seems to have gone out of the Romney balloon.

(25,415 posts)They MSM really tried hard after that first debate but Obama proved them wrong and has come on strong. He has been excellent on Sandy. I know Gov.Malloy here in CT appreciates it and has said so. Not just Christie is praising him. Gov. Cuomo in NY has too.

(31,464 posts)I love Joe...great guy. And yes, he's a Democrat, but yesterday he was on the news and said that he has been through 4 FEMA-level disasters during his term, and he has never seen anything like the response the Obama administration has given to this storm. Rapid, thorough, he had nothing but high praise for how the new FEMA director has handled this, and praise for Obama's outreach.

(25,415 posts)Joe is a great guy. Rep for the 2nd district that includes the western shoreline of Connecticut. My brother is out there, in Lyme.
Glad to hear this. I know Stonington took a big hit. Lots of flooding.

It's nice to have adults in government, instead of worms and slime (repigs) who only care about lining their pockets with juicy gov't contracts & waste.

(31,464 posts)I ran into him at a local farmer's market last year. Hadn't seen him in months, but he knew who I was, and reached out and said hello. We talked some issues and he introduced me to another local candidate. He is as genuine as they come. Absolutely nothing bad to say about Joe.

(7,549 posts)about waking up. He made me mad. He was going on about how the white vote is breaking historically for Romney and if the black, hispanic, and white women votes all end up lower, he will win.
He also said he doesn't see how Nate Silver can be right since all the swing states are within the margin of error.
I was thinking is this guy really supposed to be on our side?
Feel much better though after listening to Stephanie Miller. Her guests are way more positive about our chances.
I am going to stay positive, but not take anything for granted, and help get out the vote.

(666 posts)Haven't read all the responses but does anyone really believe there are still many undecideds out there? I mean between the primaries, the conventions, and the debates most and I mean most (99% - there's that % again) must know who they are voting for. Any undecided now , in my opinion, are most likely those people who aren't voting. Again -- just my opinion.

(31,464 posts)...the people who want to be on tv. If you're still undecided, you're a fucking moron.
