Survey USA: OBAMA EXPANDS LEAD IN NEVADA

President Barack Obama has expanded his lead over Mitt Romney in Nevada, according to a new poll that shows the incumbent edging his GOP challenger 50 percent to 46 percent and headed toward victory Tuesday unless Romney halts the Democrat's momentum in the state that could settle the White House race.

After taking a couple of days off the campaign trail to deal with the aftermath of Hurricane Sandy, Obama is scheduled to rally supporters in Las Vegas this afternoon.

Romney's running mate, Rep. Paul Ryan, R-Wis., plans back-to-back appearances in Reno and Las Vegas today.

Romney is expected to return to Nevada to campaign before Election Day, working to boost GOP voter turnout to counter a Democratic ballot advantage during the two-week early voting period that ends Friday.

Obama was leading Romney among those who said they already voted by 6 points, 52-46, according to the SurveyUSA poll commissioned by the Las Vegas Review-Journal and 8NewsNow.

But Romney was edging Obama, 47-46, among voters who said they planned to cast ballots on Election Day

10:15 AM EST update.

[link:GOTV in Nevada (NV) Day 12. Dems lead 55,650|GOTV in Nevada (NV) Day 12. Dems lead 55,650]

10/31/12 - Democratic GOTV surges FORWARD with another 3,400 to 3,872 to cumulative vote gains*

Despite overall statewide turnout slowing by about 10% from a week earlier, Democrats are still turning out in larger numbers than Republicans. Two days ago it was reported that Republicans may be catching the Democratic GOTV. That day the Dems only gained about 850. But yesterday's Dem gain was 2,500 and Halloween's gain may be as high as 3,872.** In other words, Democrats at still casting ballots in more aggressive numbers than Republicans.***

Confirmed by Jon Ralston Reports
Unofficial NV SoS Results - Day 12 2:00 AM EST 11/01/12. Official results to come out Thursday morning.

Democratic lead - ~ 55,650
Clark County (Las Vegas) - 55,622 (2008 lead by election day was ~80,000. Dems won NV by 12% that year)
Washoe County (Reno) - 28

Further demoralizing Republicans will be the above results from today's two county EV.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------

* I presume that there will be a negative affect of about 460 absentee votes per day, which is why 3,400 may be more realistic for today.
** Clark County raw numbers show 28,024 votes cast, yet their summary page says 28,012. Tuesday's numbers were similar, with a loss of a few votes, but no explanation as to why.
*** I predict the focus from the M$M will be on Washoe County's Democratic lead being almost dead even with Republicans, instead of the fact of crushing Democratic gains coming from Clark County. You watch. They'll try to spin the "uh-oh, Reps are catching up!" When in fact, Dems are accelerating away.
