While the event seemed stage for Clinton's short term benefit I think they have totally overlooked the long term damage that can be caused by this.
Why does it seemed staged?
First there was the stuff that happened with the NV caucus which really upset Bernie supporters.
Then they have the convention and more stuff occurs to upset Bernie Supporters.
Cue the stage for Barbara Boxer (an EXPERIENCED politician)
1. She asks for civility when she knows the crowd is upset. So we just screwed you but by all means lets be civil. How uncivil of you to boo because what we pulled. Chastising people to be civil after they've just been screwed is a real winning strategy. No Barbara, we NEED a system that is not corrupt and rigged.
2. She calls Bernie her friend when people have heard her on the corporate propaganda channels being less than flattering to Bernie.
3. She says you are going to boo yourself out of this election.
4. We had the vote, we had the voice, we had victory and she praises and praises Clinton.
5. She calls the crowd bullies for being upset about the crap that happened. You shouldn't hide behind a bullying label Barbara - shame on you.
6. To add further fuel to the fire she says Clinton was a civil rights worker and LOTS of Bernie Supporters know about the photograph and the smear that Bernie was lying about what he did for civil rights. Knowing this will be watched, that's a great piece of misinformation to get out there. (And I have yet to see good evidence about Clinton's civil rights work).
Is she an idiot? Does she understand the GOP can use this, add in video of the crap that occurred in the NV caucus (including newspaper headlines), the times she dissed her friend Bernie, claiming Clinton was a civil rights worker while having their tools try to say Bernie was lying about what he had done, etc.
Great job Barbara. You sure in the hell know how to win a general election.
It was staged for use in the California Primary. But what's the good in winning a battle when you lose the war?
Update: And please stop lecturing about the future of this country being at stake. We realize that.

Dragging a liberal lioness like Boxer who has for years done right by us through the mud with your petty and trumped up complaints? Wow, what a smart move on your part!
Keep "helping" Bernie win CA (LOL) by trashing one of the most popular politicians in CA history.
You keep booing. Keep bashing. Keep trashing. Heckuvajob!

(12,685 posts)Nobody does a better job of torpedoing Clinton's chances than Camp Clinton and their clueless band of surrogates who will do anything to win. But they forget, you might win a battle but in doing so lose the war.

"If you don't do what I say, BAAAAAD things are gonna happen!!" is not a viable, winning, positive strategy--but that's what you have reduced yourself to employing. Sad.
No, bad things aren't going to happen. Bernie lost. Deal with it. He gave it a good run, but he's impossibly behind, and if you think shitting on Barbara Boxer is going to make people say "OOOOOH--I SEE THE LIGHT, I do!!!! BERRRNNNIE is WUNNNNNNERFULLLLL!!!" I have a bridge to sell you. All you're doing is destroying his legacy. How are you going to pivot when he tells you to stop, if you keep this bitter, nasty stuff up?
Get used to saying Madame President. It's happening, and it's going to be wonderful.

(4,451 posts)Do you hear yourself? Susan Sarandon. AOK. Tina Turner AOK... Barbara Boxer ( Omagawd the horror) IMO the reason why BB and TT had to be there was because of the busing in of people that happened in April.
Hillary won Nevada and there was Shennanigans at the April state convention. Why are you not talking about that?

(12,228 posts)It's more like dividing your forces before promenading over to Little Big Horn. Unprofessional, imprudent decisions were made right at the start to have a fixed centrist platform of low expectations and a non competitive hand me down primary. That is way too much just to blame on Hillary. They got called out and bloodied and like the Redcoats think to bluff it out with all their power. Then they were so afraid of the platform and donor base change they threw away the chance to deepen their well punished base. then there was- and is still it seems- some secret fishing about for another centrist candidate- an anti-Sanders unHillary person but also another past losing star of rather dismaying age.
And then there is the chaos- which I don't expect, but boy have I been wrong before- of a Hillary indictment come Convention time or after. No matter who or what you support there is never a time like the present to swallow your cud and get some clear talking started among all in the party. Posting here or getting hidden or banned is nothing influential or indelible like acting like a fearful buffoon in getting live delegates working together. Let's encourage our party pros to start acting as such with some wisdom or rudimentary knowledge of political history. The last thing we seem to ignore, although we should, is the inevitable pissing contest that goes with most primaries.

(46,436 posts)I won't forget how astonished I was to hear Barbara Boxer on MSNBC comment derisively on the "whiteness" of Bernie's rallies a few months ago. I had always held her in high esteem, but that comment was completely uncalled for and destroyed my image of her. She has done good work over her time in the Senate, but I had no idea she could be so mean-spirited.

That piece of crap propaganda that you link to was written by "Angie Morelli." Who's that, you ask?
https://www.facebook.com/AngieMorelliforNVatLargeDelegateforBernie/
Angie Morelli for National Delegate for Bernie
So, we'll take THAT from whence it comes.
This delegate deservedly got his ass handed to him by his fellow Sandernistas on reddit--they called him every name in the book:
Some delegates moved out of the county they purported to represent. You can't DO that. What made you eligible in April doesn't make you eligible in May, if you're no longer living in the same place. A few Clinton delegates got caught in that issue, too, but since many of us Clinton supporters tend to be old fogies, we don't move around as much--or come from out of state to do things like caucus.
Get over it. Your guy got what he deserved, even as his "helpers" on the ground tried to game the results through bullying and intimidation.

(5,815 posts)And I plan on voting for Kamala Harris for Senate.
But, I really don't understand her appearance.
It seemed almost designed to antagonize.
And so it did.
I think the party is starting to feel like it's losing its grip. They've gotten just a little too accustomed to deference and top-down control. And when the plebs rebel, they're not so happy.
Boxer seemed . . . annoyed.
Democrats should not be annoyed at populist sentiment. They should embrace it, or at the very least address it.
She came off as condescending and imperious. Of course, people not in the mood, who felt like they'd just been fucked over were going to react negatively.
Where is the mystery here?
And the fact it is apparently a mystery is more troublesome than the entire affair.
You don't get why people are pissed? Ok. Good luck in November, then.
Someone save these people from themselves.

(3,160 posts)Booing became bullying when it was decided to be made a specific strategy in advance of the Philadelphia convention. They plan to steamroll half the voting base and they are pre-positioning the propaganda to conform to their chosen narrative. This is the absolute worst, most cynical political campaign that I have ever had the displeasure to witness.
