As reported tonight on Lawrence O'Donnell's program.
Members of Romney's staff went to a local Walmart store on Monday night, the night before the event was held in Ohio, and they bought $5000 worth of granola bars, canned goods, etc. and then they took the goods and placed them in a pile where Romney would be standing at the event on the next day, Tuesday.
People that went to the event were told that they had to give "a donation" in order to get into the line to shake Romney's hand.
Romney's staff told people that they could use one of the goods that Romney's staff had bought the previous night that were stacked in a pile near the table that Romney was standing behind.
Then, the supporters would hand "the donation" to Romney -- one of the goods that he himself had his staff members buy the night before -- and Romney would shake their hand and thank them for "donating" to the relief efforts for the East Coast.
All while the cameras were rolling!!!!
Romney's phonier than a $3 dollar bill.

(297,240 posts)bone in mitt's rombot. With all that money pouring in from sheldon addelson, the famous kochroach bros, and just all the ugly money imaginable..you would think they could buy two advisors with a brain cell between them and come up with something better than that!
It's guess it's not easy being a big fake.

Since day one the rmoney thugs have faked the crowds and the media let's them get away with it.
At best there were only 20 people there that could be identified as
" not staff."
Where are the damn crowds??????

(5,810 posts)and much of it has been largely ignored by the media other than noting that it was going on. And frequently we were told "They ALL lie." The level of lying is what is mind boggling and while it has been reported, I have yet to hear anyone discuss what this implies about Romney's (and Ryan's) character. At every turn and in a very public way both of these men have lied directly to the American people. Without flinching, they both delivered major speeches at their Convention that were lies strung together with more lies. And no one talked about character. They said it was "breath-taking".....but did not address the issue of what it says about the morals and core principles of what guides these men.
When all is said and done and this election is over, I predict that there will be plenty of analysis of what went wrong for Romney and Ryan. The issue of their shoddy character should be front and center. The willingness to say or DO anything to win at the expense of any moral underpinnings they have or had should be and probably will be featured. I just find it sad that this notion will come AFTER the election and was not discussed (other than here and other forums) in a way that would reach the American voters so that it would make a difference in how they assessed the candidates before they cast their votes. A candidate who is willing to cast aside all principles and core beliefs for the sake of winning does not deserve our vote.

(12,504 posts)...some really, really bad counterfeiters, found themselves with a stack of $18 bills. Realizing they could not put that money into circualtion at a major City, decided to try and bullshit some corner store in small town USA. They enter the first store and ask the clerk if they can break a 'new' currency, an $18 bill? "Of course." The store clerk responds. The crooks grin and give each other knowing glances. The clerk continues, "Would you like two $9's or three $6's?"

I'd pay money for a copy of that video.

(17,656 posts)When you realize that almost everything Romney ever said this year on the campaign trail was a lie, it's no wonder he pulled such a ridiculous stunt as this -- and thought that he could get away with it.
