2016 Postmortem
Related: About this forumThe actions of the Democratic Establishment is turning young voters against them.
I spoke to young voters this weekend and if that's the goal of the Democratic Establishment you are doing one hell of a good job.
If I told you some of the comments, you'd probably have to get out the fainting couches.

I can't imagine what you see when you consider the disgraceful behavior of Bernie's out-of-control spitttlers these days, but they are not exactly the kind of examples young people emulate. Or older people. Trashing their own movement.

(17,064 posts)I think it might be over 50% of Sanders supporters now...my FB feed is even higher. At least Clinton no longer has to pretend to be anything but conservative...she can really go after those republican votes now.

(819 posts)Several of us that were women over 50 at the Sanders rally in SF are plenty disgusted and in that camp -- and in the realization there has to be an outside party. Progressives are not listened to within the Democratic Party or DNC.
Hortensis
(58,785 posts)Big time baloney.
You want to feel you're part of something big, but -- as almost always happens with extremists who start acting out -- we are talking about a comparatively small group who are busily sidelining themselves.
And, as always happens with extremists who've taken themselves out through bad behavior, as they lose relevance and the prospect of future power, the willingness of others who support Bernie to continue hanging with them will also disappear. There is nothing attractive about throwing tantrums, threatening to sabotage elections, or losing.
And the Democratic Party has serious grown-up business to tend to.
HooptieWagon
(17,064 posts)Clinton will do terrible with them. And more and more Sanders Democrats are turning their backs on her. Her scorched earth strategy is blowing up in her face big time, and I don't think it can be repaired. All the cheating she's doing is just making things worse...she might not get any Sanders Democrats in Nevada now.

(4,667 posts)At this point, the best thing for them to do would be reconsider their candidate in the cold light or reality.
For example, when she claims to be putting forward a healthcare plan to help she was actually helping make healthcare and education too expensive globally, forever, with a global trade deal on services.

(67,111 posts)democratic party used to be about. I imagine they will vote for whomever the nominee is, but I'm concerned about those that well might not.
The Twitter-generation phenom was basically an ad campaign aimed at recruiting the Ron Paul rump and the results show it.

(67,111 posts)that will be unfortunate, because it will be exploited as a significant weakness into the future. I like Bernie very much, but will vote for whomever the D nominee is. ... but my gut feeling is the democratic party turnout will be weak in 2016. I certainly hope not, but I do think that might be the case.

(10,476 posts)This generation has been mollycoddled and helicopter-parented to death; you're left with no ability to cope with someone who holds an opposing point-of-view, and your sense of entitlement has led to a complete inability to deal with losing an election.
I feel pity at this point, really.

(23,730 posts)she'll stay with the ex-GOP conservatives in the registered Dems, and try and peel dissatisfied registered Pubs: the libs representing 70-90% of the electorate can vote for her or stay home and take the blame; if guaranteeing a win means winning with someone who won't play the game, they'd rather lose and keep the system going
