Actor Wendell Pierce, who is in Atlanta shooting a film, was arrested after allegedly attacking a Bernie Sanders supporter, according to TMZ.
TMZ said Pierce, at the Loews hotel last night, met with a woman and her boyfriend in the lobby. They supposedly had a conversation that went political. Pierce is a Hillary Clinton supporter. The woman was supposedly a supporter of Bernie Sanders. Pierce allegedly pushed the boyfriend and went after the woman, grabbing her hair and smacking her in the head.

(1,511 posts)The constant sexist and racist attacks from the HRC crew on here are bad enough, but in our caucus we had the one older white lady that screamed at the people running it when they said they did not like the super-delegates in response to 800+ people out of 1000 demanding the super-delegates be neutral or reflect the votes before they donate to the party (they were asking for money from us). The angry lady got up and screamed at all of the people running it and then yelled at the audience calling us all sexist, and caused a slightly younger disable vet in crutches to have a break down...There is also that guy in the theater that yelled at Bernie and blamed the Jews for NY housing prices.

Yes, I'm saying it- I blame the Clinton Political machine for the divisiveness we've seen. They stoked this. They made Sanders' supporters the enemy from pretty much day one. They called us tea party left- said those of us female and supporting him were just looking for the boys and deserved a special place in hell. Called us and Bernie racist and misogynist. They pulled this shit in '08. They villied us. And we're surprised some of her supporters got the message that we were evil?

They have every right to comment - we all need to look out for one another and lift up each other, no matter who we are - some here seem to believe in that - others, just pretend.

JTFrog
(14,274 posts)The short-term changes
We still believe that the vast majority of DU members are perfectly capable of participating in a productive way, and serving on juries in a non-partisan way. But given the pervasively negative tone of discussions here, we think it would be wise to provide a greater incentive for people to do so. Going forward if we see anyone voting to leave the worst-of-the-worst posts, or voting in a nakedly partisan fashion to hide posts which are clearly legitimate, then we will remove that person's ability to serve on juries. (We are not going to provide any notification to members who lose their jury privileges, because under the messed-up values of primary season we think many of you would see it as some kind of badge of honor.)
So, please, do the right thing when serving and let's clean this place up a bit.
We've also decided to try removing the current "five hides and you're out" restriction, mainly because we suspect that members would be more likely to vote to hide bad behavior if they didn't feel like one of their friends might get canned over it. So while members can still be flagged for review for getting posts hidden too quickly, there's no more five-hide suspension. And anyone who is currently suspended for getting five hides is able to post again as of now. We reserve the right to change this decision if it seems like it's having the opposite effect to what was intended.
And also we are not going to feature discussion threads on the DU homepage if they are posted in the General Discussion: Primaries forum, or in either of the two primary candidate supporters' groups. We are no longer interested in featuring the most divisive content on the front page of this website.
The only people being removed are those that allow disgusting shit to stand and those who make disgusting comments. Something to think about eh?

(45,319 posts)I agree with you. We know he's rich, connected and a man who got arrested for assault on a woman. He's pushing apologies, dropping out of events.
I think the main element to this on DU is that he's not being discussed by Camp Clinton at all, with all the affectation of caring about such things, all the holding Bernie responsible for every Tweet some Hillary supporter claims came from a Bernie supporter. Here you have Pierce doing this and your side is concerned with the fairness of the headlines about him, wanting to be all moderate about the reaction. This is very different and highly hypocritical behavior.
