So what happens if Polls show Obama winning overwhelmingly but he loses do to.......

All the republican efforts to steal the election? Primarily the new breaking story that Ohio SOS John Husteads 'experimental patch to count votes' he is installing in polling stations all over the state? If the polls overwhelmingly show Obama will easily take Ohio but surprise Romney takes it and its clear that they stole Ohio, what will Obama do? Is there anything he can legally do to contest the results?

I have no doubt Obama would win this election but the repubs are notorious cheaters and always seem to get away with stealing elections.

I've been on a literal high the last few days watching Obamas rising in the polls and there has been no doubt he would win the election. But I am seriously scared now do to these new voter machine revelations. I desperately want Obama to win. Thanks to the health bill I was finally going to be able to get health insurance. Romney will see to it that that wont happen for me or millions of other americans. Romney will only bring misery and suffering to everyone but his elite 1%'ers.

I hope something can be done about Ohio before its too late.

...but I think that with his/our/everyone's investment in it, it's important psychologically to win it, if not strategically. Winning it would send the message that PBO has a mandate. But this little "experiment" of Husted's tells me the fix is in, and the theft is guaranteed. I hope somebody can talk me down from it.

What would each one of you do if you found out even if Obama won that 10% or 20% of Obama's votes had been flipped to Romney and this had been going on for years. Obama's 2008 votes perhaps flipped to McCain. Even perhaps Romney himself should have been Santorum.

What would you do...say well, Obama won that's all we care about...or would you want to do something about the fraud and the interference in democracy of our Nation......what would you do...what...would you feel.

It need not be a major shift, just two in every hundred votes, move them from Obama to Romney in swing states. Romney squeaks by. Dems not happy, but cannot prove a thing.

In a nutshell, nothing will be done because too many in government appear to want to keep the ability to flip the votes. They mostly refuse to acknowledge the obvious. The news refuse to take it up.

Sadly, we don't have a democracy without a legit election. We spend all of our time trying to make the gap too wide for vote flipping to bridge. If things don't change they might as well just go ahead and auction the elected official positions on ebay to the highest bidder foreign or domestic.

Its software accessed through the voting machine interface which allows the running of reports. Think of a program on an ATM that runs admin procedures.

Don't let these guys come in here and stir up shit. The people pushing this story on DU are unknowns quantities.

That is both federal and state law. ALL.

This software has not been tested. This software has not been subject to any review whatsoever. That is what makes this software different. You have no objective way of saying what this software does.

The only objective things that can be said about this software is that it was installed illegally and did not go through the same process that all other software on election machines has.

If it was report software and it had been tested, or had it's contract discussed in a meeting of the Ohio Board of Voting Machine Examiners, which it has not, we would not have reported on it at all.

We have the DOJ, the AFL-CIO has said they would have 1000s on the ground, the UN, the ACLU and we have our own computer Geeks. The world is watching and Obama will not allow this election to be stolen. It is just more idiotic hand wringing. You don't think Obama knows how to deal with crooked-assed white people?!

....and every time they've been trying it lately, they've gotten caught.

Just stop. I mean really. What if an asteroid hit the Earth before all the votes are counted? What if the Yellowstone volcano erupts, what if.....

Under the ridiculous guise of "zombie apocalypse training", military and law endorsement teams are getting ready for "occupy US".

If we we accept the results of a rigged election AGAIN we are just a bunch of losers who will be bullied again and again by Rove and Murdoch.

If we decide that "we're mad as hell and are not going to take it anymore" then the police are now primed and ready to treat us as sub-humans when we organize and protest. It will make the violence of occupy wall street look like minor disagreement.

US PsyOps: brainwash the police to serve and protect the 1% rather than the 99%.

If R wins? Think Kent State on steroids. It will end when the "insurgents" stop protesting and submit to the bully.

That's a different question. Like another responder wrote up-post, we're all much smarter now especially in the White House. Anything that even looks like malfeasance will be brought to light very quickly. The surest thing is to do all you can to make certain it's not close enough to steal. Just my .02

Thu Nov 1, 2012, 01:18 AM
Nov 2012

Answering the phone and telling a pollster (or even a campaign supporter) you support Obama and will vote tomorrow is one thing. Actually doing it is another.

The polls are projecting a certain turnout number. If a lot of Democrats stay home, Romney could win no matter what the polls say today.

That would not be the GOP stealing the election. That would be called laziness on our part.

39. If RR wins, we may need to rebuild our polling methodology
Thu Nov 1, 2012, 06:36 AM
Nov 2012

I am an engineer, not a statistics major.

If my fuel gauge says i have 5/8ths of a tank and i suddenly run out of fuel, I will look for a faulty gauge before I assume a massive fuel leak.

Given that very few people like to be polled (I have read that less than 10% of polling calls result in a completed questionnaire), and that many folks have cell phones with Caller ID or cannot take calls during work hours, this year may be the breakpoint for traditional automated calling polls.

Also, the Karl Rove's of the world have been screaming that the positive polls for President Obama "over-sample" Democrats by not weighing the responses by an expected turnout model. If the major polls are off by a mile, this argument will be the "official reason" that RR won. And, if we press the voter fraud angle, they will come back with Voter ID as the answer.

I agree with the other posters that GOTV is the only way to win this year.
