Picture of the Day: President Obama and Chris Christie Working Together
In an age when Republicans have refused to work with the Democratic President to help Americans in a time of deep financial crisis, it is news worthy when one crosses the aisle.
Governor Christie had done just that, heaping praise on the President for his quick responses and desire to help governors cut through the red tape that might otherwise obstruct quick help.

There are those who speculate that Christie is doing this for political gain, and there might be truth to that. Im no fan, but Ive always seen Christie as an emotional guy who takes pride in his role as Governor. I think he shares with President Obama a desire to be a steward to take good care of the people. His particular style is very different from Obamas understated and controlled emotions, but they both clearly want the best for the people whose lives are in their hands.
As we mourn for those whose lives were lost in Sandy and those who lost their homes and businesses, we can take heart that right now, there are elected officials working together for greater good of Americans.

(223 posts)Working with the democrate. He knows if Obama wins he gets to run for president in 4 years and if Romney wins it might be 8 long horrible years...so he is praising the president and working at looking good for the office.

(16,959 posts)I didn't think that all this time, but he was spewing vitriol. Right now, he is doing his job as a public servant, not playing off the citizens of New Jersey as pawns in an all or nothing game, and he took a big step, imo, toward looking presidential. It's been a LONG time since I've seen a Republican politician look anything but bad.

(238 posts)...maybe other repubs will follow suit. Just kidding. They're bought. Wishful thinking.

(3,072 posts)I think it is very clear that he wants Romney to lose. Even at their convention, he didn't even talk about Romney. He has known all along that Romney isn't going to win and he really isn't going to do anything to help him now.

(3,072 posts)He can tell Romney is going to lose and he sees an opening for 2016. Rumor has it, once Romney bites the dust next week, the moderates in the party are planning a coup of the GOP leadership. If their party moves out of the fringe and back into something remotely resembling a mainstream party, Christie would be well positioned to get on the top of the ticket.
Not to say he isn't doing the right thing, working with Obama and actually giving a shit, but it is a once in a lifetime opportunity to take down Romney and set himself up for 2016.
