Hurricane Sandy's effect on the election in blue states

Okay, folks, I need some reassurance on this one.

Considering the enormity of the destruction and power outages in dark blue NJ, NY and CT, it's reasonable to assume that turnout in these states will be affected. There's no way any of these states could go red on Nov 6 due to low turnout, right?

I live in northern NJ and was without power for 27 hours. I went out for a few hours this afternoon, and it was total grid lock everywhere I went. And the gas lines at the few stations that are open were staggering. Not sure this is going to be turned around in five days.

The election is six days away. Most if not all road debris will be cleared by then, and most power will be restored. Even if people were generally unmotivated to brave whatever to vote, there is no reason to assume more Republicans will be motivated to vote than Dems. AFAICS, other than business owners, few conservatives (especially the more socially moderate northern conservatives) seem particularly thrilled with Romney as a candidate. And after Obama's clear bipartisanship working with Christie getting such praise - even from Christie himself - I just don't see it being a problem at all.

Thank you for your concern.
