Sanders Wins West Virginia Primary - And No, It's Not "Inconsequential"'Regardless of what the mainstream media would like you to believe, these victories matter.'
byJon Queally, staff writer * May 10, 2016 * Common Dreams
Bolstering his argument that voters in every state deserve a chance to have their preference registered, Bernie Sanders proved too much for rival Hillary Clinton in Tuesday's Democratic primary in West Virginia, a state she carried handily in 2008 when running against Barack Obama.
With nearly half of precincts reporting, NBC News reports that Sanders had captured 51 percent of the vote compared to Clinton's 39 percent. ~snip~
"With this outcome, we now have won primaries and caucuses in 19 states. We are in this campaign to win the Democratic nomination and were going to stay in the race until the last vote is cast. We expect more victories in the weeks to come when voters go to the polls in Kentucky, Oregon, the Virgin Islands, Puerto Rico, California, Montana, New Jersey, New Mexico, North Dakota, South Dakota and the District of Columbia.
"We fully acknowledge we have an uphill climb ahead of us, but were used to that. We have been fighting uphill from the day this campaign began. And after all the votes are cast and counted and this contest moves to the Democratic National Convention in Philadelphia, the delegates will decide which candidate is the strongest nominee to take on Donald Trump in November. All of the evidence indicates that I am that candidate.
"As voters in the remaining states and territories make up their minds about the future of the Democratic Party, I believe they deserve a chance to compare my record and Secretary Clintons record on creating jobs, raising the minimum wage, war and peace, the need for health care for all, breaking up big banks, combating climate change and other critical issues. Secretary Clintons campaign already has agreed to another debate in California. I hope that we can soon settle on a date and place for that debate."

(154,021 posts)and I am going to enjoy this. Yes Reagan Democrats are real, so were Bush Democrats, and guess what, so will Trump democrats. Ain't that lovely. But you will, as always blame the voters, who are on the left side of the wheelhouse. At this point it is entertaining as hell.
And from what I hear many of them (on the left) who actually always vote democratic and are reliable, even in dog catcher elections, some at least are indeed planning to sit it out. They will get blamed anywhere, instead of the always mercurial right wing (far right wing0 of your party.
It is kind of amusing the pretzel logic at play.

(154,021 posts)as to what will happen in November, it will be much closer than you think. And that is as far as I will take the prediction game. The dynamics this year are way off. Mind you, I have taken Trump not as a joke, but seriously from word go, ok a week after he launched. It took me that long to read though speeches and see where he actually seems to be coming from.
But I will enjoy the blame game from hard core partisans who cannot understand what is really happening. It is kind of fun. After all the level of cognitive dissonance is well... amusing at this point.
I am sure that what happened in WV last night, is being taken as a sign of trouble by the campaign though,. They might be hard core, but at least I hope they are not as incompetent as you guys.
To your posts, I should insert this.

(19,326 posts)The more votes the better. That's how elections are won: by broadening ones appeal
by being genuinely who you are.
The operative word is GENUINELY Progressive -- which leaves 3rd Way

So trashing the very notion of even being a progressive has begun? Interesting tack

(19,326 posts)I can think of no exceptions, unless we're taking about Vermin Supreme, et. al.
We both know this is true of both Hills and Bernie.
Using this to conjure-up some nasty attack-narrative on Bernie is in very poor taste,
and this would cut both ways.

(11,945 posts)Yes, older Americans of both sexes and all races tend to rely on the corporate media for information and tend to be Hillary supporters. Younger Americans of both sexes and all races trend toward Bernie.
Some older Americans, like me, have learned to distrust the MSM, but I think we are in the minority.
I don't "disregard" anyone.

(90,353 posts)... , like many in the DNC, dismiss the power of the Hispanic and black and female votes AND ISSUES in America.
He did an interview in 14 about getting back the working class white votes !!
In that interview he KNOWINGLY said we shouldn't focus on racial issues and said "that's not important" when it came to them.
This is his own doing
Having someone who called Obama niggerized in IA and NH stump for him in front of mostly white people didn't help either

(45,850 posts)such as "they must be brought to heel" and then go on to cynically use race as a polarizing factor both ways in 2 different election cycles, tell a majority Black crowd in Harlem that they are all for gun control and then mere days later tells a nearly all white crowd in rural PA that they are all for the 2nd amendment should condemned for that tactic as it divides the coountry not to mention the Democratic party
but it's nice to see you think the US 'celebrates diversity" is that along the same lines as being post racial ? If so how and if not why?

I'm not implying anything about anyone, I'm making statements that are not in dispute relative to the child thread at hand.
If this does apply to anyone then they need to check their attitudes.
It's like Jackie Robinson said (iirc) "most things was fine (on his team) until we all had to take showers together", WE ALL need to check our attitudes and thinking.

To lob a hand-grenade into the GOP mix, then hand the election to Hillary in the GE.
Remember? Trump & the Clintons are pals, and have been for a long time. It was Bill
