Can Bernie Raise $$$ his Way Into the VP Slot? (Original Post) speaktruthtopower May 2016 OP
If he even seriously _considers_ the VP slot, I'll be extremely disappointed in him. Lizzie Poppet May 2016 #1

I have more trust in his character than that, though...

Luckily I won't be, she has much better judgment. No one is considering him, even theoretically.

It'd be Liz Warren, someone who would be primed to run for president in 2024.

I think (hope?) we'll see the start of a new, vibrant progressive movement to work on the issues he's brought to the forefront and to elect candidates (particularly to congress) who support true progressive policies and ideals. One of the first tasks? Campaign finance reform and cleaning up voting process.

change the rules so that the President cannot go to war until the Congress specifically authorizes it.
Right now, Congress delegates the responsibility to the President because they don't want to be responsible for making the decision.
But the decision rightfully belongs to the people, not to the Presidency.

[Yes, I understand we can't really say that Congress represents the will of the people but that what they are intended to represent in the government]

Sadly they abdicate that responsibility like so many of their other responsibilities - by just not actually calling what our military does a "war"

But I do absolutely agree with your point.

The only reason I could see wanting to be VP is if you wanted to run for president in 8 years. His age may not be a problem now, but 8 years from now at 82 a lot of people would consider him too old to run for president.

If Clinton is the Nom we will need Bernie and Warren in teh Senate to try and stop her RW agenda.

THe VP slot is a dead end job. THe VP is rather obligated to do what they're told. Can't see Bernie bending over for that.
