The Clinton-Warren fantasy
Hillary Clinton is intrigued by the idea of an all-female ticket. But allies say she likely won't pick the woman of progressive dreams: Elizabeth Warren
By Annie Karni

Elizabeth Warren would be the dream vice presidential pick for millions of forlorn Bernie Sanders supporters, an instant antidote to the charge that Hillary Clinton is too close to Wall Street.
But in interviews with more than a dozen prominent Democrats and campaign allies, most viewed a Clinton-Warren ticket as an unlikely scenario despite the appeal of a two-woman ticket to Clinton campaign officials and also to Clinton, who sources said is intrigued by the idea.
Warren has criticized Clinton in the past for flipping her stance on the bankruptcy bill because of Wall Street campaign contributions she took as a New York senator. Still, she is exactly what Clinton needs, some Democrats argue -- an independent thinker with a powerful grassroots fundraising base to tap into.
Warren, proponents of the partnership said, would also help Clinton with her gap among millennial female voters, third-wave feminists who want to see a woman elected president but not merely for the sake of electing a woman.
But the cons of Warren, many Clinton allies said, outweigh the pros. You dont want a vice president whos going to outshine the president, said the super delegate supporting Clinton. With Warren, I think theres a real possibility of that.
Democrats said they would also worry about Warrens ability to fall in line behind Clinton. When she was recruited to run for Senate from her post at the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, for instance, she was wary until she could be assured she could do more about banking regulation from the Senate. And Warren insiders have expressed a distrust of Clinton on their core issue of Wall Street reform.

I think a shining VP would set the stage for a Warren Presidential slot in 2020.

When I'm wrong, I correct it. I responded to the OP's content.
But claiming my post was a lie, after I admitted to an error, shows a level of cynicism that is unbecoming.

(45,251 posts)"I DONT CARE" (1905) Words by Jean Lenox
VERSE:
They say Im crazy, got no sense,
But I dont care,
They may or may not mean offense,
But I dont care,
You see Im sort of independent,
Of cleverness descendent,
My star is on the ascendant,
Thats why I dont care.
CHORUS:
I dont care, I dont care,
What they may think of me,
Im happy go lucky,
Men say I am plucky,
So jolly and care free,
I dont care, I dont care,
If I do get the mean and stony stare,
If Im never successful,
It wont be distressful,
Cos I dont care.
VERSE:
Some people say I think Im it,
But I dont care,
They say they dont like me a bit,
But I dont care,
You see Im sort of independent,
Of a clever race descendant,
My star is on the ascendant,
Thats why I dont care.
CHORUS:
I dont care, I dont care,
If people dont like me,
Ill try to outlive it,
I know Ill forgive it,
And live contentedly,
I dont care, I dont care,
If people do not try to treat me fair,
There is naught can amaze me,
Dislike can not daze me,
Cos I dont care.

(14,255 posts)funerals, with the extra bonus of getting Warren out of Congress. The Third Way is quite up front about hating warren - according to them, Warren is "getting out of hand".
Warren as VP to Hillary would not get my vote any more than Hillary with anybody as her VP.

(35,619 posts)....(and I think she would have influence), the alternative is putting a centrist in position to be the nominee in 8 years.
djean111
(14,255 posts)And no, she would not influence Hillary. The Third Way has gone so far as to editorialize against Warren in the Wall Street Journal. Hillary is a Third Wayer. She will not be influenced, only happy to put Warren into a powerless position.
I don't think there will be much left of the United States anyway, in eight years. Hillary OR Trump. Constant war, trade deals that suck jobs out of the country.....fracking, Hillary wants to means-test Social Security - only downhill.

(38,437 posts)Warren's appeal is extremely limited and gives nothing to the ticket with a unlikely exception of appeasing some young voters who might otherwise stay home. Assuming a VP pick every really made that kind of difference.
An all-female ticket makes no sense. It will not happen.

(3,687 posts)we will need Warren right where she is
we don't need her buried in the black hole of a VP position where she will be forced to bite her tongue and support the RW Corporate agenda bullshit that Clinton Admin will be ramming down our throats.
We will need Bernie and Warren and others to try to prevent further slide to Corporatism.

(4,484 posts)I don't think having a Vice President outshine a nominee is necessarily bad. If they are shining for good reasons then it is all good because it is for the same ticket.
Elizabeth Warren would be an amazing pick and add even more star power. I hope they go for it.

(9,385 posts)A long time insider who can be relied upon to pardon her if it comes to that.
A Warren might do the ethical thing instead, so I don't see her or anyone of Sanders sympathies being chosen. This is some flattering spin for a cover story about counting her out.

(8,758 posts)Hillary already shines with the brillance of the sun, and the President shines by right of office too. No, Elizabeth Warren would not outshine Hillary Clinton. At best, Warren would shine almost as bright as.
I would welcome that light. Warren being on thr ticket is my dream ticket, was my dream ticket before Sanders got in. I back Sanders is lieu of Elizabeth Warren.
