This is a guy who needs no introduction. He's a progressive champion who led the fight for Medicare for all, to hold Wall Street accountable, and to end the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan.
Alan was the Tea Party's number one target in 2010. He lost his reelection bid after coming under some of the most vicious, dishonest attacks that year. But Alan Grayson doesn't give up easily and he's running again to be a progressive voice for change.
Over 100,000 votes were cast as part of this year's Grassroots All-Stars contest and it's clear that DFA members and grassroots progressives across the country want this fighter and truth-teller back in Congress.
Alan is joined by two other progressive fighters in the top three -- Norman Solomon and Jose Hernandez.
Norman is an author and longtime antiwar activist. Local DFA members are all-in for Norman and so are we. He's running in northern California to replace progressive Rep. Lynn Woolsey, who's retiring. Rep. Woolsey is a progressive leader and we need to make sure that the person who succeeds her in Congress is as powerful a progressive leader as she was. There's no better candidate for that than Norman.
Jose Hernandez is the son of a migrant farming family who went on to be a NASA astronaut. He has lived the American dream. Now, he's running for Congress to keep the American dream alive for generations to come, to make sure that all Americans have access to a good education and the jobs that come with it.
Every year, Democracy for America asks its members to choose the candidates who deserve our strongest support in the Grassroots All-Stars contest -- and this may be our best year yet. Electing these three grassroots progressives to Congress will go a long way towards taking back the House and undoing the damage caused by John Boehner and his Tea Party cronies.
